Who's Your Hero?

By For Sooth on 13/09/2008
[THIS IS A SERIOUS TOPIC]

Pick one person in history who you have found heroic, and that you admire.

People can range from Martin Luther King Jr. to Mother Teresa

Personally, I've a big fan of Nelson Mandela

They don't have to be famous, but if no one will have heard about them, try and tell us a bit about them.

Hitler, because he was tactically smart, and helped Germany back into power.

My Hero is the person who put cancer therophy into action, if it wasn't for their treatment i wouldn't be here today.

I guess mine would be Johnny Gunther. He had a brain tumor and died of it, but he never showed that he was giving up. Extremely brilliant kid. Died at the age of 17.

Wiki article about him-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Gunther

Dilz you cannot try and cover up what you said, it has be quoted in yingyang's post.

But on your cover up, yes he was a brilliant guy. Just had some mental problems.

And this post/topic is done talking about Hitler, we will continue on.

By Dilz621 on 13/09/2008
I was referring to Hitlers intellect as a leader, and how he got into power.

By Yingyang06 on 13/09/2008
Hitler = No, Edit your posts guy's, no flaming. I knew this would happen >.<

By Ragingwealth on 13/09/2008
I have to agree with Dilz here..I don't like Hitler's actions, but I'm impressed by his political and tactical skills.
He isn't my hash.png1 hero though, thats kinda private hash.png

Bill Clinton

i'm not even halfway through his autobiography but it is already one of my favorite books

edit:

whats wrong with Hitler?

sure, he killed millions.

But i guess respecting even ones enemies is outdated? The way he was able to rouse a nation to follow him, imagine if he actually had a "worthy" cause.

Removed.

I can understand your feeling on this. But I don't think anyone is minimizing the terrible things he did. I've seen the movies and been to the museum Washington DC. All the terrible things he did. But he did have a way of leading that can be used as example for a better cause. Not like just killing the innocents.

Anne Frank comes to mind about a hero that the Jewish people might look up too. She kept journals and her account of what happened really touched my heart. I have seen displays and read some of her journals.

Yeah if he's such a great leader he'd be in heaven.

But he's not.

He was a community leader and then council of WG. Despite his responsibilities as such he continued to offer a free runecrafting service to his previous clan TL. He even took the time to listen to everyone, never said an unkind word and was always there for the people that mattered (in real life and WG/RS). Even after he became emeritus to start a new business he has still maintained a watchful eye on WG and has attended a few events despite being in the Aussie timezone and an extremely busy person in real life. Even despite some trying times he still there for WG and those around him who need him or just listen to crappy jokes from some idiot named Joe.

His_Lordship
Secondly, Gene. He has contributed a countless amount of effort into the creation and growth of WG. He has endured many trials for his dedication (read the some other posts/history) both in real life, from the clan world, and WG. Despite these things he has helped WG flourish along with a website voted BEST by the clan community. Though he has done all this despite the personal cost to him both financially, physically, and emotionally and the ridicule of the clan community. He even created several recruitment videos, flash movies, hosted real life meetings (only clan I believe to do so), and created a t-shirt exclusively for WG he was berated and ridiculed by the clan community and by WG. After four years of this, he leaves and then comes back to the very clan that drove him out. In summary, I admire his dedication, devotion and absolute belief in WG and its members.

Mah daddy. Smartest and strongest man I know to date. He taught me everything I know today and showed me countless life lessons. I can't imagine all the pain he's had to go through in his life, and he has set me on the right path so that I'll never have to. Plus, he can beat up your dad!

I like Adolf Hitler and Saddam Husein too just because of their tacitcs.

But my hero all time is Zinedine Zidane the soccer player that played for France. He's been my faviroute since World Cup 1998 when he won it for France against Brazil. smile.gif

My hero?

My dad. Sure, he and I don't get along much, but he's made so many sacrifices so my family could live a comfortable life. When he got laid off from his job, he lived in Florida without us for 6 months until the house sold, just to ensure we could keep living a good life.

Some people were under the impression that he was cleansing the earth of the impure, and in their eyes, Hitler was first in line for Heaven. I suppose it's all a matter of perspective...or bullshit, like most religions..
