Robbie, whats your server stats?

By Job is God on 18/02/2008
Cos it sucks, no offence.

Script Execution time: 19.3695

20 seconds? Jeez =/ I know your hosting is free, but whats your bandwidth limit? Is it always this slow. Couldn't you have just edited the php.ini file on the wg.com server to stop whatever errors we're being thrown. Long loading times are only when loading psots from the db mind, index and post_topic is fine.

Also, take a look at http://bihira.com/wordpress/ Bihira. Cheap hosting, great uptime, overkill bandwidth. I pay £1.25 a month/$2.50. Cheap as hell, I suggest buying some proper hosting.

Or I could give you a subdomain off mine and you can <frame> it from wg.com/wg or php header location it to the subdomain. Just a suggestion, doubt i'll be trusted, just a suggestion.

Don't take this post in offence, i'm just being sensible, 20 seconds is taking the mick.

Edit, Why don't you readd the banner and rename the forum from 'Invision Power Board'. Would make it look alot better happy.gif

A wise man once created the private messaging system, for contact between 2 individuals. I suggest you try it.

Lol , me neither.

Well as beautifully I don't understand what you're talking about, as much do I agree on what you're saying on what I do understand. The forums are generally slow, and the URL is easy to forget. But still it's a great forum, but those minor tweaks wouldn't kill anybody.

And btw. I can pay for a new host if wanted?

I'm averaging a 20 second page load, which is why I rarely post anymore.

Well, the problem is NOT the web hosting, its the MySQL database server, which is way overloaded.

Anything that doesn't require database access, like the images and such from the last forum(still used on this forum) load very fast... But, if the forum scripts cant get their data off from the MySQL server, it can't load.

The MySQL database server is not hosted on the same server as the webserver, unlike most sites, so its slower than otherwise - It is also way overloaded, and although it is using good hardware, it is serving a ridiculously huge amount of queries per hour - I checked.

As a note, the MySQL database part of my webhosting was added as an afterthought basically - But I never planned on needing it. When I got this webhost, I got what I wanted, which is more or less unlimited space and unmetered bandwidth on a stable server/cluster. It does very well at that.

I have another host which I have a nice fast MySQL server on... But its not up to the sheer volume of queries this forum requires I don't think.

We are now moving off my webhost onto a payed-for VPS, which we will be able to run everything we want from(Including Teamspeak, I checked) easily and quickly.

I hope that explains everything.

Edit: With the WG.com forum, not only do we not have access to php.ini, as it is shared hosting, they explicitly made sure we *couldn't* do what you are suggesting.
