By Kyle on 25/09/2008
Fixed, all I had to do was run as administrator.

Have you downloaded any VISTA updates recently? If so, go back and look through which ones you have done and un-install them, if this doesn't work you could do a system restore which can be found in the control panel i believe. By doing a system restore your computer or laptop will be reset to a previous point in-time, meaning the updates you have installed or that VISTA have installed will be gone and have no trace of it on your computer. System restore can be reversed at any time after you've done it i think. If the problem is still there after doing this, then i'm not sure what it could be... Anyways, hope this helps.

System restore is a very sketchy thing to do to your computer. I say just use IE, less risk to your computer.

Are you on WiFi or Ethernet?
Sometimes that happens to me when I'm trying to find a WiFi connection on my MacBook Pro. I'll load it, then it'll automatically crash. Not sure if that's normal, but oh well.
Anyways, try plugging in an Ethernet cord to check if you're on WiFi. If you're already using an Ethernet cord, try re-downloading FireFox and then installing the newly downloaded on, after of course uninstalling the current one. If that doesn't work, try reverting to an older version of FireFox. If the older version works, try the whole install process again.

If you want to go that far, I say sell current computer and buy one of the new MacBook Pro's that are coming out this October!
Haha, but seriously try everything to get this fixed. You don't want to have to use IE.
NOTE: I'm getting one of the new MacBook Pro's.
Yessir.

@Pete- My computer automatically downloads Vista updates, so I don't know what happened. Maybe that's the reason.
@David-I am on WiFi, but I use a wireless adapter to connect my computer to the router across the house.
@Sam- No. :>
@David (number 2)- I just got this computer March of this year, I really don't want to part with it. Also, I'm only 16(unemployed), so I don't have the money to get a MacBook anyway.
I was thinking of using Safari or some other web browser I heard of.. Opera I think it's called?

You MUST set it so you can choose which downloads you wish to install/download, this is the very first thing i did with VISTA when i got it back in november last year. I have had no problems with VISTA at all, i choose my own downloads and which to install. I strongly recommend doing a system restore, i have personally done it once before and it solved my problem with opening firefox and completely erasing downloads i didn't want to install.

I'd rather just do something easier than a system restore. I heard Opera was more secure than firefox? D:
I'll try turning off automatic updates see if that helps.

There's nothing hard about doing a system restore, it tells you how to do it and takes about 5 - 10 mins, if that.

Eh. I'll try out opera for a few weeks, see how it works. If I don't like, back to firefox.

When it crashes, is there any error message or crash message or anything similar? if so, inform us here.
Did firefox ever worked in your PC before the crashes? If it did then remember if you installed anything recently (especially anti viruses and such).
Oh and does your account have admin privileges? If it does right click on the firefox icon and select 'Run as an administrator' or something similar, it helps me with a lot of programs sometimes.
