Future of War....

Well, this could end up being the end of the nuclear arms race and more into Metal Storm type weaponry. The mortar gun itself could level a small city in minutes.....talk about scary.....you would barely get a chance to react....

By Gibble00 on 20/02/2008
The scary thing is the sensors it has so it can remain unmanned.

Scary for everyone, because I bet there's no way it can tell friend from foe, it wouldn't be too good if it blew up a battalion of friendly tanks.

Not too good at all.

By Bambaleo on 20/02/2008
oh damn...this is really scarry. It's only a matter of time when the guns land on the streets. LIke gibbles said: not good at all.

RFID type technology. Simple.

Eep, wouldn't want to meet that in my liftime.

Its no contender to nuclear warfare though. 1 nuclear bomb leaves vast areas flattened and even bigger areas contaminated for decades.

Its the best non-suicidal option though.

Oh ****, robbie is droppin some knowledge.

I don't feel like looking up whatever RFID is, but I can imagine what it does and okay cool, still too crazy a weapon.

its fast enough that it could hit a nuke.....and if positioned on ships near enemy countries could blow up the nuke in their own country......

Great all we need is people working and making money by finding for efficient ways to kill people. Great work fuckers

By Back to Own on 22/02/2008
Yea...

On the radio while I was driving to school, I heard a guy make a statement that when I thought about it, it seemed scary but inevitable:

"Do you think that a nuclear weapon will be detonated in your lifetime?"

Pretty scary.

By Sygelig on 22/02/2008
I've got two of those things in my backyard..

Nah seriously.. Devastating Fire power. Some times I even think it's unneccasary with guns like this. Men has build it. It just to beat the other gundesigners..

Boys with toys.. tsk tsk

Dallar

Ah..the good 'ol USA..

Good to know the billions of dollars we spend on military technology aren't going to waste. tongue.gif

Yeah thats quite old though right, i watched the entire program on TV.

That thing is unbelievable cool though, i mean the technology behind it, is simply inspired. Whoever first designed that is a genius.

probably 7 year old, but about 20 years old technology wise.

RFID - Radio Frequency ID - Unpowered ID badges that only have to be *close* to a reader to be read. However, to prevent problems, you would probably use a powered type. Very simple, cheap technology.

You would just need to have a reader on the device, and the computer controller would not fire on anyone who was transmitting the proper signal. Should be easy enough to do.

What retards, why make another deadly weapon? Haven't researchers and scientists learned from the nuclear bomb? They just keep screwing the world.

RFID, now thats scary. Those are the little chips that they recently put into all passports that track your every move. Within a few years they are giving us all ID cards with them in it, and eventually they will be implanted and used for all types of control. Wave of the future eh?

thats why you put them in the microwave before use.

Gibble - I don't remember all the technilogical terms, but I'm pretty sure the guns have a way of identifying 'friend' from 'foe'.
Although, I'd still much rather have a man behind the controls than a computer.

Kiwi - That's an interesting point. I guess, atleast, it will make one think twice (thrice, etc.) about launching off another Nuke.

Bobler - You may be smart enough to find ways around violence, but will your enemies always be rational, and willing enough to cooperate? Will you always have a chance to talk things out with the person trying to kill you?

Yea, fire, now they are having problems with things like that. Because the difference between friend and foe is impossible. Because Robots and such can't distinguish between civilian and enemy. Civilian is a friend....therefor until we find a way to distinguish between foe and civilian we have to use people commandeering them. (Unless we find a way to do what the computer system in Resident Evil did and identify who was caring a gun and what their threat level is and if its 100% then to k0 them.)
