Why can't you attend p2p raids?

By Elyxiatic on 08/11/2008
We've all seen that our raid attendance isn't the best.
The fact is, we could beat a lot more of the 10-15 people teams we run into at the moment if we just pulled those extra 5 people per week to a raid.

The objective of this poll is to pinpoint the exact reasons why you can't attend the raids.
Be honest in your vote.
I want a clan perspective on why you personally can't attend raids.
I'm not going to get angry if you say skilling.

Basically we're trying to work towards better solutions for raids.
We would like to know the exact reasons you can't attend at least 1 per week.
This poll is specifically asking about p2p raids, hence the p2p questions on it.

If two options appeal to you, pick the one that is the strongest reason you do not attend raids.
If our p2p raid attendance starts improving, the f2p attendance automatically will, due to more ppl having f2p, than p2p, and gear sets being cheaper.

If you vote and would like to give specific details of your situation, please post below.

Edit: I made this up, after a lot of the responses.
Guide to (cheap) p2p gear

By Tyranu on 08/11/2008
Okay i know i'm new lol But i would attend Raids if i was online, the only other factor would be if i died too much and was still in the process of buying new gear lol

By Zemus3654 on 08/11/2008
i always attend raids if im online neko2.gif

By Aardvark39 on 08/11/2008
I normally attend them, but was with my nephew today b4 he goes back to the special forces wink.gif other times it may be cause of work as im on call for the most part, but that rarely interferes.

By Smithing It on 08/11/2008
it's 6pm my time but honestly 8-9 my time would be good. ( EST )

By Havochaha on 08/11/2008
bad timing
and leadership on p2p isnt the best (from the raids ive been on)

you guys are great when it comes t of2p leading but when were in p2p i dont feel like im in a strong unit.

I do come to every p2p raid i can ive skipped work for it too but whenever we do the leadership is below average :$.

By Mistah Vince on 08/11/2008
I have 2 reasons.

- To be flat out honest, I don't like Raiding. Kinda boring in my eyes.

- 6PM EST is not really too good for me. That's generally when I eat dinner, so yeah, I do that. neko2.gif

Honestly, I just don't have the money. At least, not right now. I've never really had that much cash, so P2P Raids have always been a stretch for me. Way back, I actually used to just range because it was more affordable even though I only had 70-75 Range.

I'm trying to make some money, and usually have multiple Rune Sets in my bank for reasons such as this, but it's hard for me because I just don't have the stats to make the big money that many of you do (no 70 Agility, low Range).

Anyway, I'll work on getting some cash and buying some gear and getting to those raids.

By Wace555 on 08/11/2008
Raiders ftw

By For Sooth on 08/11/2008
Mostly it's just my lack of cash. I think i'm currently sitting on 37K. Can't even afford another rune set. I have one.

Also times are about 1-2 hours to early.

By Back to Own on 08/11/2008
P2p raids are among my favorite events
Today, I was practicing for my piano recital tommorow neko2.gif

By His Lordship on 08/11/2008
I have a cash issue too. I end up selling shit from my bank to afford basic gear. I don't know how I manage sometimes.

By Quikdrawjoe on 08/11/2008
I hate p2p raids. They're expensive and twice as dangerous as f2p. I have things I would rather purchase more than p2p raid gear.

+1

When I was active, it was always so hard to come up with the money to get stuff I would somehow get the money to get the gear but I could never make it last =/

Lordy, must have been worse for you cuz everyones out for ur name =/

p.s-I have always disliked p2p cuz in pk's and such, tanking=impossible and whether you live or die is based on luck alone.

By Indivi2you on 08/11/2008
Those 8 votes that said they attend the raids better have been from the 8 or so that came today. Or you'd be a liar.

Anyways, yeah i attend my raids, even though i am one of the strongest skillers (in belief)

I love skills to such an extent its not even funny, but i come to raid because of WG. Skillers should take that into thought.

By Dorcha3377 on 08/11/2008
In line with spending more time with my family I have tried this year to attend the football games to see my brother play in the drumline. When I didn't go to the games I went out with my sister.
This is an awfully hard year for her and she is utterly stressed out at the end of the week, so we go out to eat as a treat on Friday evenings.

I do try to catch one of the other raids though, just for a bit the p2p on Fridays will be hard for me. I will attend when I am able.

By Sithofwookie on 08/11/2008
I haven't come to many raids in the past but lately I've been trying harder to attend them.

By Colinwarrior on 08/11/2008
I don't play RS much anymore and I can't afford the raids, since I have no income, or really any money in my bank..

By Nick on 08/11/2008
For the past 8-10 weeks I have had Friday night football games, and for the past 4 weeks I have had competitions on Saturdays. This all came to a close tonight, so my activity should increase on weekend nights.

By Useph1 on 08/11/2008
For me it has to be a combination of disliking them, not being able to afford them, being bad timing, and I'm a very low level compared to everyone else in the clan.

You won't be seeing me at many p2p raids.

By Winddancir on 08/11/2008
Simple. I really dislike raids. I don't do well on them. I'm not good against other players.

By Ragingwealth on 08/11/2008
I attend raids everytime I'm online, I just didn't attend the yesterday's one because I was really busy with a lot of work to do, I even fell a sleep after I finished neko2.gif

By George on 08/11/2008
Ok it seems to me at the moment, that (other than the raid once a week option) , the highest results are in the "cannot afford gear" and "I prefer skilling" category.

If the latter is the case, then WHY DON'T YOU ATTEND SKILL EVENTS?

o lawd not another warring vs skilling arguement..

warring/raids actually NEED good attendance, without many people, we will most likely die.

Skilling events, you dont need good attendance, sure it makes it more fun and all, but its at no loss - no-one is going to die because of it.

That being said, i do try my hardest to attend both warring And skilling events, and it would be good if others could attend both when they are online as well.

Also for those who say "i can't afford p2p gear", just come in welfar.

If your 85+ Range, just bring d hide & rune c bow.
If not, d hide & whip/ d scim (with protect item)

By George on 08/11/2008
I'm not starting that argument.
I'm just saying that if you use the excuse that you won't come to raids because you like to skill... and then you don't come to the skilling events..
See my point?

By Mager123789 on 08/11/2008
I'm F2p atm.
And when I'm online when there's a raid going, I do my best to find an account to raid with.
Either my brothers or my best irl mate's.

A lot of people are complaining about the times too i noticed.
Maybe Change the raid times?

And Zemus, you made a good point too.
Full d hide with a rune cbow + some bolts & potions won't cost too much.
Infact, 1 Run to green dragons will get you enough cash to buy such a raid set.
that takes like ~10mins?

By Elyxiatic on 08/11/2008
Ok many of you can't afford sets.
I have made this up.

By Groedius on 08/11/2008
Well ill be honest here yes i love pking and such. Especially F2P PVP and CWA however when it comes to P2P i just hate it because melee seems so useless and i cant use TB and my range seems to be appalling so i just dont to avoid however usually im not online at the time

By rachellove9 on 08/11/2008
You all know how I voted. I do try to attend as many skill events as I can. Lately work has kept me busy and rl stuff.

Gary for awesome raid leader. tighthug.gif If I did like raids, I'd be glad you was leading.

By Zlatan83 on 08/11/2008
I attend raids but im f2p.

sort of wish there were more f2p raids...

By Mickey on 08/11/2008
I attend allot of P2P raids, and I didn't attend the one last night because I was drunk and it was almost midnight.

By Samurai-JM on 08/11/2008
wtf is runescape

By Georgio9 on 08/11/2008
NO PEE TOO PEE.

By Mobifon on 08/11/2008
I voted other.
The fact that this usualy happens, on every raid is this:

We mass at say 19:30

People start spamming IRC at 19:30 - we're about to go
I meet there equiped and ready at 19:25

And then we wait, and wait and wait, appearently the world we are going on is unclear, the clan chat we're joining has not been told, and all off sudden, it's 19:46

Waste of time, thats why i dont attend raids.

By runtime_man8 on 08/11/2008
co z i reallyhate p2p raids i love free to play coz i have tanking skillz
and p2p raids i always get downed first .

He has a big point there. I don't like to mass early for some thing, because in ten extra minutes, I could be getting other things done. Massing 30 minutes early for a war or a raid is inefficient in time management, because many people get bored quite fast. Including me.
