Emeritus - A sensative, foggy area.

Well, I've always disliked the way Emeritus is. Maybe it's just me, but there's always been confusion over it. In my first Council application, I tried outlining this in the best way I could, but now, with some help from Tabs, i've had a few new thoughts on it that i'd like to hear your views about.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what Emeritus really is, because on one hand it seems to be a rank which is still required to sign up for wars, still have an RS account, and possibly pop in for events from time to time, but on the other hand there are some people who don't even have RS accounts with the rank, and on the memberlist! It confuses me, and Is an area that needs to be sorted out.

I've got a proposal, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it

I'd like to propose reforming Emeritus, and the way it is. I propose having instead of one inactive/honourary rank, we have two:

The first, known as Honoured Ex member would carry no responsibility to WG, but still have the same forum rights (except war forum and events forum), and still feel relatively important. This, like Emeritus currently, would only be given to those who are Higher Guardian+ and deserve it from their past time here. There would be no memberlist for this rank.

The second, known as Emeritus would carry very little responsiblity to WG, and would have the same forum rights as the current Emeritus rank. Emeritus would be required to be at least full-out-war-active and would remain on the Emeritus memberlist. By 'full-out-war-active' I mean signing up to like 3 of 4 full out wars minimum and attending at least 1 of 3 full out wars. (The sort of wars we have as week or two week preps I mean of course).


To help with the transition, a post would be made in Level one and 3/4 asking every emeritus to post which they are more suited for, and which they would like to be. Then, after a week, all those who haven't posted are put to Honoured Ex Member, as obviously they wouldnt usually be able to attend wars if they're not forum active at all.


I'm wondering what ya'll think? I'd really like the Emeritus memberlist to represent something, rather than just be a mass of random names? I really do think Honoured Ex Member would be appealing also. What ya'll think?

I'm 100% approving of all this. Too many just get away with doing nothing. If they do nothing, they should get less of a rank.

I think this is a very good idea.
There are a lot of emeritus who really don't want to come to wars at the moment, but they still deserve the Emeritus rank.
