Abusing the *new* drop system.
By Stokenut on 10/12/2008
On December the 9th, the PVP drop tables were tweaked and we were given an insight onto exactly how drops are calculated. After a little thought and a few hours experimenting I've come up with a training regime that can't be beaten. Based upon yesterday's results, over 85,000 agility XP i made over 11.5m, Jess did about 1/3rd of the drops I did and made 4m, my friend Echliurn did as many drops as me and gained around 13m.
Going at my rate yesterday, I stand to make 1,621,500,000 gp CASH training
agility to 99 via the wilderness course. This is how I do it...
---------------------------------------
STEP 1You spend 1-2 hours in a dangerous PVP done (Varrock, Falador, Ardougne, Wilderness... you get the idea.) With
over 75,000gp worth of items that you would stand to
lose should you die. This is my setup for agility training in the wilderness:

Equally, you could train other skills. Such as magic, melee, ranged, mining, thieving, woodcutting or any other skill in a none-red-skull zone, however your invisible PVP loot potential bar will go up much slower.
Here is what you might wear for magic:

A mining example:

But be creative! How about training range, or melee combat skills on fire giants underground in level 52 wilderness? Hell, you could even max out there!
STEP 2Now you need to do your kills. You must defeat a player, while
risking over 75,000gp worth of items should you die in the circumstance where the player you defeat [u[loses[/u] over 25,000 GP.
The best method of doing this is to stand in full single PK-gear, upstairs on the 3rd floor of Varrock castle. Next, have a partner run up to you with 26,000 coins in his or her inventory and a
familiar summoned to make their combat level higher so your kill is recorded as more impressive.
Now you just spec them out. It's advised that you do
3-5 kills every
2 hours of training.
The best way to find a partner to do drops with it to just train with them! It makes training more fun and after you can just kill each other alternatively for your loot.
Now you just spec them out. It's advised that you do 3-5 kills every 2 hours of training.
RESULTS

I'll post more loot pics later, i don't generally screenshot stuff under 3m.
Do
NOT show this guide to anyone outside WG. Unless you want it nerfed.

Oo,
I'll try this out asap when i get p2p again
By Troll84 on 10/12/2008
Nice, How many kills did ya do?
By Stokenut on 10/12/2008
3-6 kills, depends how long your "luck" rating holds out per round.
By NightRawrs on 10/12/2008
Yup it's good, i'd recomend it.

But do not leak else it wont be around for long.
By Abmanju on 10/12/2008
Ownage guide.
IF YOU LEAK THIS TO ANYONE, YOU WILL HAVE NOTHING LEFT@@@@
~Abs
P.S. - I owned randy for a 33, 34, it was a real fight, Corrupted Stetias platebody or something, along with 400k of other junk stuff. So I made 1m first time trying this out, 'tis useful. I think I'll do this for a while so I can stock up on Rune set before I go inactive@
By Chimpy on 10/12/2008
I got a decent drop earlier today without going into the wildy for a couple hours. Worth about 330k total.
By Sithofwookie on 11/12/2008
Let me get this straight, you go train agility or other stuff for about 2 hours with 75k worth of stuff in your inventory then go kill you friend up in the castle with his familiar summoned?
By Back to Own on 11/12/2008
Whenever im not doing anything or dont want to scape, ill leave my acc in lava maze. Tried afking last night, but i got killed by a random 1 hour in
By Randy on 11/12/2008
These +60k (forgot to add in)

For a little more than an hour.
Really fun

All i do.
Is die.
By Indivi2you on 11/12/2008
Umm, does it matter if you leave the red-skull-zone if you've been three for like 2 hours.
Let's say your training mining/agility in the wildy. Then you want to meet to kill your partner, and go to a bank or something, does that matter?

For every 30 minutes you spend on a PvP world outside of a safe zone, your drop potential will increase. Those 30 minutes do NOT have to be all in one go - you can log out or visit safe zones - but the system only counts full minutes, so it will likely take longer to build up your drop potential if you do not spend 30 consecutive minutes outside of safe zones. |
Tempted to try this, but it seems so broken
By WG Justin on 11/12/2008
who wants to try this with me after work?
By Back to Own on 11/12/2008
Did some with darf yesterday:

~1.2m total pc total from other drops
Did some today with drew after afking a couple of hours in hotzone

~3.5m total with other drops
So about 4.7m total so far
I really want a pvp specfic drop
By Sithofwookie on 11/12/2008
I got berserker ring and dragon hally!!

Having a pouch in inventory also boosts the person's lvl. All I've gotten so far is a d hally
By David on 11/12/2008
We should have a weekly event for this!
It would be up to the person to prepare by staying in the Wilderness for a specific amount of time, but then we all meet up and kill each other. Like 3-5 kills per person then you switch off.
Basically a quick "luck" event. The hope is that you get at least one decent drop because you'd be risking 26k*5=130k (max).
Anyway, I'll try this. Maybe do some farming runs on PvP and kill some Greens as well.
By Mager123789 on 11/12/2008

Without standing in a pvp zone.
Logged in, killed BPN few times.
These were the big drops, got some junk kills too (each time +150k).
By Renegade3540 on 11/12/2008
Have to say this is a great idea.
Btw the amount of drop potential you lose depends on the drop you get. Thus meaning if you get 3 bad drops in a row you'll still have a chance to get a good one but if oyu get 3 good one in a row it's doubtable you'll be getting another good drop.
By Geoff_Bland on 11/12/2008

After an hour in a hotzone. Did 3 kills with Mickey each. Not too good loot
By Samurai-JM on 11/12/2008

Log on, get in hotzone, afk
By Geoff_Bland on 11/12/2008

2-3 hours of potential, 5 kills

6.1m so far
By Nick on 12/12/2008

I had a d hally last night after 1 hour.
When I got home I did another hour... first kill was combat bracelet + rune hally + rune boots, and the second was the picture. Not bad for 2 hours.
By Geoff_Bland on 12/12/2008

It is interesting to note that fighting NPCs on a PvP world will also increase your "good" drop potential. Because of this, players are encouraged to fight NPCs and build up their drop potential before battling it out with other players if they wish to get the more desirable drops. |
Just read that and thought how good it would be if you killed NPC's in a hotzone. Your drop potential would increase significantly.
QUOTE |
On rare occasions, a player may drop extremely rare items such as the fabled Dragon Full Helm, the Dragonfire Shield, and Dragon Chainbody if both players are risking at least 75,000 gp worth of items. If the winner is lucky enough, and has met the requirements for the desired drop, they may just receive one of these prized items |
And that's very intresting aswell. Maybe we should try bringing 75k with us when it's our turn to die instead of 25k.

Do you think you NEED to have at least 75k to get DFH, DFS or Chain? Or is that just a recommendation? I know it says "at least" but maybe that's an encouragement?
Would be nice to find out.

By Stokenut on 13/12/2008
Nice, you guys have been getting some good loot. Keep it up (y)
I might suggest that on the first death, the dying player loses 76k, just to give the chance of dfh/dfs drops. For the rest, 26k's. Reason being, after the first drop, some of your drop potential is used so it can't be maxed on the 2nd kill.
By Geoff_Bland on 13/12/2008
Good idea Steve. Just did another 3 kills and my luck seems to be rising

By David on 13/12/2008
3 Kills with Mickey:
- Zerker Ring
- Mystic Mud Staff
- 2 Glories (4)
- Worn-out Dragon Gaunts
- Obby Maul
- Obby Staff
- Rune Kite
- 63 Rune Arrows (p++)
- 105 Nats
- 103 Deaths (forgot to put in trade)
- 101k cash
Totals to about 2.7M. Not bad for standing around in Black Knights Castle for a few hours.
By Billy on 13/12/2008
Standing around for a total of 5 hours, either at ardy boat or agili in wildy. And i get a total of 600k >.<!
That's from 8 kills, at different times.

"As an example, one way of doing this is to take 75k coins' worth of items, not protected by death or prayers, then go outside of a safe zone and train as normal (by training a skill of fighting NPCs), and avoid PvP combat. All the time you are doing this, not only are you earning XP from whatever activity you are doing, you are also increasing your drop potential. Once you have built up some drop potential in this way, you can get your PKing gear on and try to get a kill to claim your drop."

By Redstormx1 on 15/12/2008

are we risking our 75k .. yes
and we are out there for anyrandom pker to kill.
it would be better for pkers if there are heaps of random people training everywere and not just a bunch of pkers in varrok. jagex mad pvp worlds for the whole worlds to be used and i reckon us training combat and agility in these world is helping pking
By David on 15/12/2008
I'm really liking this whole system. It's really useful for me right now because I've got limited time on RS because of work and stuff, and I can just stand there for a few hours and make a few M if I'm lucky, whereas had I actually been killing Green Dragons, I may have been able to make roughly 1M in the same time. Very nice.
So far, I've made about 3.5M from this.

Yup, i usually go out with 2k alchs, whip and some armour, averaging 2.5m.
And when im pking its even more if you add str cape and b gloves.
Im going for it 1 last time tonight, but im going to try a different approach instead of just stand there, use the air spell with minds, wing bolt or whatever it is, and have minimum mage bonus, and if someobdy wants to do it with me, we can just stand in the middle of varr skulled doing it for hours on end without worrying of dyeing, also a bit of mage exp without even trying.

If you're going to do that, do it in the upstairs part of the South Ardy bank because if by some chance you do get attacked by someone else, you can quickly run downstairs to a safe-zone.
