By Winddancir on 26/12/2008
This is all true. It all starts with an email...

Okay, the problem is happening again, and frequently. Soooo....

I hate calling them. Every time I call, I get some one who can barely speak english, and is definitely ESL. More like they learned english from some one who took a class on how to speak english and is now trying to teach a language they barely know to others.

I try the Live Chat representative.

Kevin: Please let me look into your concern.

Winddancir: Sorry about it being a little messy, I copied it from an email I sent to tech support. This problem has been on and off since then.

Kevin: I am still working on your concern.
Kevin: Thank you for your patience.
Kevin: I would like to inform you that according to our database you are enrolled for DSL
Kevin: I am a dial up support representative so, I would really appreciate if you could contact us at 1-877- 896-3757 (Toll free) to speak with one of our DSL agents.
Kevin: They can assist you better in this regard.
Kevin: I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause to you.
Kevin: Thank you for using PeoplePC LiveChat. Should you need further assistance, please contact us again.
Kevin: Merry Christmas to you and your family !
Winddancir: Why do places have email for Tech Support, and yet, when you email them, they say to call?
Chat InformationChat session has been terminated by the site operator.

The way the response came right after I put in the second bit of info (apologizing for it being messy) clued me in right away that this was NOT a live representative. It's a bot. Easy enough response to keep me on hold while it looks for key words that will inform a real person if their attention is needed. Once it found out that I was a DSL customer... Yeah, those lines came really fast.

Now on to a phone call. When I'm already irritated, and I'm ready to chew some one out. It will amuse me even more if they have absolutely no clue that I'm insulting them.

The call with Tech Support:
I have to ask him to repeat about half of what he said. Something about he did a line check and made some adjustments. That I should disconnect every 24 hrs to help prevent this. And that if it continues, to call back and talk to a line specialist. *twitch*

Strangely enough, when I could barely understand him the most is when he started asking more like "How was your Christmas?" Gods save me from dealing with tech support again.

Start to flame them with random nonsense questions if they can't help at all.

When i click, it makes a noise. I want it to stop. I've already tried crushing your CEO with a hammer, but that didn't seem to stop the noise. Please help?

I lold in jest of my own jest

My router....last generation of the old linksys wrt-54G routers sometimes disconnects from the internet but I still have local network access. I have to restart the router when this happens. This usually happens because the damn thing is overheating.

Just some experience with stuff crappin out on me.

See, when you get away from dealing with the usual "tech people" and start phoning up the engineers who designed the product at their desks, fucking around is not really an option. It doesn't get you anywhere, and it looks bad on whatever company/institution you are calling on behalf of.
