Where Do We Go From Here?

By His Lordship on 18/01/2009
Its a confusing time to be a member of WG. I want to post my thoughts on the state of the clan and where we are headed. We pulled 61 people to one war, then under 40 to another. Spies are going under the radar because of somewhat lax activity standards. Event attendance counts for little, and rolling event attendance counts for nothing. Excuses for inactivity are one post away. Nothing is done about non sign-ups for wars. But then again, on the plus side, our IRC is active as well as our forums, which is a good start. And what happened to that inactivity sweep I promised? I'm very sorry to have fallen behind. It involves sifting through about 300 screenshots and then other various things. It will happen before I leave for Vietnam. Let's say tomorrow as soon as I get back form the gym, I'll sit down and give it 4-5 hours. And as a warring clan we are amazing. We have warring under our belt. I suspect this coming war against RE will remind us we are capable of great things. We simply need to transfer that power into PKRIs. Every member now needs to have 5 rune sets in their bank and 1k binds. Without exception. Anyone with sub-80 mage now needs to train to get it. That will be one of my priorities after I return from Asia. Every member has to have infinite run.

We WILL be making PKRI's bigger in the future. The way it will work is like this. We will have set raid times once more. I liked that system because every timezone was given some attention. We will make a fourth raid on top of this, with sign ups. This will be the "big raid" which will replace wars. We head out with our larger than normal options, we go hunt down clans that thought they could beat us, we return. If a big clan like VR comes, we leave. If they keep hunting us, by elimination we'll be able to solo out the spy. There will be a major raid every week, unless there is a war. Wars will no longer happen every week. In same cases, these "big raids" will replace one of the other raids. So yes. In WG it is expected that you attend these weekly massive events. There will also be the election of a new event leader. I'm going to teach my event leaders to look out for people who keep dodging events. One reason spies can go unfound in WG is inactivity. Spies belong to other clans. If we had stricter activity standards, they would be caught in an inactivity check. So prepare for more PVP and returning. If we're to be taken seriously, and grow as a clan, this has to happen. We've hit a wall, and we won't be able to grow unless we break through that wall.user posted image

I agree, in activity, is our main issue. We need to really sort that out. People cannot just change there name to 'away' as soon as an event is spammed.

By Groedius on 18/01/2009
Sounds like a good idea to me

By Robertw56 on 18/01/2009
I like these idea's, I can't wait till they're put into play.

By ThisIsUnique on 18/01/2009
i agree with lordy
it was alot to read but i will try to do something about my inactivity

By Mickey on 18/01/2009
It all sounds good, but Elias posting it and *trying* to make it happen won't cut it. We need EVERYONE to be putting in the effort, not just the leaders. The leaders put alot of effort into this clan, it's not too much to ask that you give a little back.

By George on 18/01/2009
Great stuff Elias,
It makes me excited to think that i'm going to be here to witness all this.
I look forward to my training on spy control, although currently I could easily give you a few names of those who continuously dodge events neko2.gif

By Billy on 18/01/2009
Couldnt agree more.

By David on 18/01/2009
Completely agree with the whole finding out who the inactive people are via attendance at events.

By Ubg-Fcbruges on 18/01/2009
Agreed with it all! Nice post too Elias, I really hope these things will work out.

By Mojohaza1 on 18/01/2009
i'll get my bulldozer so we can smash through the wall and continue climbing

Good post, glad to see gear requirements starting to get put into place and its great knowing an inactivity sweep is on the way.

By Kero2 on 18/01/2009
Thank you Lordy
Uhhh were way to lenient....

Edit: Actually Theres one thing I wont fixed... and that would be more wars during the week... more wars = more practice = more known

By Back to Own on 18/01/2009
I agree for the most part, but we wont be getting too great activity to the other raids with 4 of them a week.

Glad to see inactivity is being cracked down upon though.

By Quikdrawjoe on 18/01/2009
I didn't realize part of WG was becoming involved in long PKRIs which many people seem to forget but if this is what is needed so be it.

As long as we keep away from clan wars I'm all for it.
Theres little difference between organizing a war in clan wars as there is to having one in fight pits or castle wars. It exemplifies our fear of losing a 200k rune set and puts us in a category of noob clans. Do we really want to be the next Tunescape? or EVEN pixel hugging NI?

If we're going to get serious about PKRIing I suggest requiring applicants have several sets of gear banked and proven on application.

5 sets banked, minimum.

start with small pkris, no rsc post 1 hour melee and binds or all styles with clans either around ou level OR below us, to gain confidence. but also to get the newer members who wernt around in the oldschool warring era to learn how to return in time but not in a sitatuin where we are going to get raped if they dont.

By His Lordship on 18/01/2009
We're going to treat the raids as regular events, and make the megaraids worth war attendance. We will judge the activity of a member based on both. You need good war attendance AND event attendance to remain in WG. The skills sector has been a little forgotten, but it really has the ability to thrive under this change.

By Winddancir on 18/01/2009
.......

You already know my opinion. Go through it in your head.

Then think on how many raids I'll actually go to, and how much I'll hate every single one of them. Eventually, I'll start hating the people who want me to go.

Don't push me into going to raids. You won't like the result.

By Mmangler on 18/01/2009
Hmm, I never equated inactivity with a spying but it makes sense. I was given to understand that WG was not primarily a warring clan but did have some war activities. Well, I was looking for new adventures and I hope that I will be able to contribute more to warring activities in the future.

Since when does going out into the PvP wilderness and killing other people count as skilling?

By His Lordship on 19/01/2009
It doesn't. You misunderstand. It will be better explained in a specific post another time.

By Nick on 19/01/2009
Okay. Good to know that there was a misunderstanding within the statement and that the link that I am missing will be explained.

By Ragingwealth on 19/01/2009
Uhh I'll need sometime to get 80 magic (76 right now, alching) and 50'ish hunter for the inf run quest. I'm doing it right now.

Doing quest now though, boringgggg D:

There is no way I'm going to get the infinite run. My hunter level is ONE...yes, ONE!! I don't like the skill and I think it's a dumb skill which is why I haven't wasted any money on it. I will make one of the other events for my weekly attendance, thank you.

You don't waste money on hunter mate, just do Tears of Guthix weekly, they give free xp to your lowest skill for practically nothing.
Really easy to get from 29 to 48 (inf run requirement) without even no lifing, if you play 1-2 hours per day it takes you a maximum of 2 days.

Just got the inf run, worst quest ever tbh :<
Going to get magic now.

By Twizlers300 on 19/01/2009
Damn I really wish I could be more active and help out with wars, but more importantly, PKRIs. I loved those. I just don't have the time anymore. sad.gif

But I do agree with your post. It all starts with us, as the clan.

It is now a requirement of WG.
At least, it will be.

By Useph1 on 20/01/2009
Good ideas. Like how we're actually establishing a goal and moving towards it.

I have a question though. Why does inactivity = spy in your eyes? Seems kind of ludicrous to me.

I wouldn't consider myself to be very active. I come to 4-6 events a month, trying to stay to the at least once a week thing, so does this automatically make me a spy?

The equipment for 1-99 hunter costs literally, no joke 10k at the very most.

Your excuse that "you don't want to waste money on hunter" is not valid. If you think that the 2k you will spend getting 48 hunter is too much for you, you should not be in WG, because a single Rune Set, which is about 85 times more expensive, you're expected to have 5 of.

Not to mention, you have 1 hunter, how do you know if you like the skill or not?
