Rules issue.
By Renegade3540 on 31/01/2009
Hello, I recently sparked a slight discussion regarding some rules in wg.
The main thing being discussed here is the following case:

<+*******> i saw many of those <+*******> and i make them die <+School_Boy19> you can't sleep + scape simultaneously <+*******> just lure the orks to them <+Pyroclastic0> sleep scaping <+School_Boy19> unless your leet like me <+School_Boy19> # <+*******> i make like 7ppl afking with guthan die |
*Removed the person's name since the issue has already been dealt with thanks to Jess*
Before you automatically post, this is regarding afk training while you are asleep (at the Orks in Gwd) and it is mainly about the fact of whether killing these people by luring them to higher monsters should be allowed or not be allowed in Wg. Since this is a wg member we are talking about. It is not about the fact whether or not Afk training is against the rules of Wg or not.
Since this really wasn't fully cleared up it sparked some discussion in #wg on this particular issue.
So I'd like to hear other peoples opinion on this matter, the main arguments in Irc made were that it should be allowed since you're killing 'rulebreakers' and 'cheaters' and counter argument that although it is fine reporting them for doing this (unless it is a fellow Wg member. I feel that no Wg member should be reported under any circumstances by a fellow Wg member.) it is against the code of honour of Wg to get them killed.
So I'd like to hear the leaders opinion and this and some fellow members.
Edit: Clearing up like Mike said, He didn't actually kill the people, he lured them to higher level monsters and let them get killed.

You can't literally kill people in GWD, Because you can't get in it while in a PvP world.
So please edit and state that he lured them to higher level monsters to get them killed

But yeah, I dunno, mixed feelings.

jagex state "AFK is strictly against Jagex rules" so i dont see a problem of luring things on them. its their own fault if they die whilst afk.

We are allowed to kill rule breakers. On PVP raids, whenever we fuond an autoer at greens, we were permitted to kill them.
Sounds like a waste of time to me imo to be hunting afkers down and getting them killed.
I know that many people in WG afk train, and I've done it several times myself.
Our rules state that we must follow all Jagex rules, but it would never be enforced unless it is extremely severe (hacking, scamming). Afk training is just a petty thing.

I don't like it if your afk training while your asleep. Thats the thing that bothers me. I want to hear what council says though. I don't care that isn't your point in the post. I don't like it thanks.

Some of you need to read my post more clearly.
I'm trying to state that just like Dk luring was that it should be against the clan rules to lure somebody their monsters and get them killed that way. If they're afking or not shouldn't matter.
By rachellove9 on 31/01/2009
I'm not sure I am understanding this. If they are using a bot add on program, you want to know if we think leading a monster over to them is against the rules?
But you don't touch them in anyway yourself and your going to report them for auto training?
If that is what we are talking about, I don't like people using that type of add on program while they are sleeping. I will want to hear what council has to saying about letting a monster kill them.
The person takes their chances with Randoms right? They could die anyway?

dk luring is done when ppl are activly there you cant dk afk youd die, what your talking about here is ppl sleeping and leaving their accs on rs. and there arent randoms in gwd so they dont take chances, if some1 leaves their acc there overnight they know the risks and have decided to do it, killing a few of them might discourage them.

Nah they don't use bots to AFK train. They just put some item with some pressure over the one of the arrow keys and then stick it with a tape. That way RS doesn't log them off

Im going to ignore all above comments, so my comment isnt baised.
I afk lol.
But i think luring higher monsters to kill them is totally legal. Tbh they wanna take a risk by doing something while they're not watching then so be it. Not to mention their risking thier ability to play rs since they're breaking rs rules.
If they die then their fault

You could argue luring them so they die is better than reporting them since if you report them they could be banned.
By Mager123789 on 31/01/2009
Even if they are AFKing, It still doesn't give us the right to let them die.
Just report them & Jagex will deal with them.
It's pretty No Honour to make them die I think..
By JC on 31/01/2009
I have little or no sympathy for people who die while AFK'ing, if you can;t be bothered training properly like most of us then it's not my fault when you loose your Gear.
No I don't lure monsters onto them, mainly because I don;t go where AFk'ers frequent.
No I don't report AFK'ers, its too hard to prove

But I don't see any issues with dragging higher level monsters over to them while training, call them a 'random event' if you like.... Unlike dragging Dk's or similar by bringing high level monsters over they should be able to deal with them IF they were not AFK'ing, wheras dragging bosses is almost gaurantee'ing the person is going to die whether they are afk or not.
By Ragingwealth on 31/01/2009
Ok, my personal view.
We shouldn't allow it or not, should be totally up to the person.
However, I feel it's quite sad that some people who break the rules themselves do it to others.
It's not going to hurt you if you leave them alone, why get involved with them in the first place :S
By Mmangler on 07/02/2009
Quite frankly, why should we care. If someone is doing afk training let them or report them if you feel that you must. It is against the rules so technically you should report them but as some of you have said you have done it. Why not just ignore it
