The Clan Anniversary, sometimes called the Clanniversary, is a series of events held annually to celebrate the inception of the Wilderness Guardians on December 6th of 2003.

Overview

Anniversary celebrations are held once a year and consist of a series of in-game events, many of which are open to the public. In the early years, all events were hosted on December 6th, however in later years and as more events were scheduled, the celebrations would take place over the course of several (typically 7) days - either in the weeks leading up to or following December 6th, though for some Anniversaries events were hosted as late as the following year. An Anniversary has been held every year since 2004 except for 2006 and 2011. The Anniversary generally has a specific board or boards created on the Forums and there may be as many as 20 different events.

Special Events

Certain events which are considered cornerstones to the Anniversary are:

Veteran War

The Veteran War is a fun inter-clan fight which takes place at the Bandit Camp in the Wilderness. Members who attend are divided into two groups: Veterans (who wear full steel armour and wield steel 2h swords), and Non-Veterans who have standard F2P fight gear (generally full Rune armour). Members who are considered veterans have usually been in the clan for at least two years, though this is subject to the leadership's decision based on the event attendance. A veteran war has been held every year for which there has been an Anniversary.

The clan traditionally masses at the Varrock west bank (though in later years they have massed at Falador instead), and walks to the Monastery where members pick cabbages for food. This is a reinactment of the clan's first Raid in December of 2003. The clan then makes their way up to the Bandit Camp. Veterans defend from inside the camp and arrange themselves in a west-to-east line. The non-veterans then charge and attack, commencing the battle. The non-veterans have always been victorious, as a symbol of the clan's progress since its inception.

Clan Quest

The Clan Quest, also called Da Lordy Code is an event in which His Lordship hides somewhere in-game, and members are challenged with finding him. To do this, His Lordship releases clues as to his location, which have come in many forms including riddles, Flash animations, and even musical snippets. The Clan Quest is considered one of the most challenging events of the Anniversary, and has been held every year for which there has been an Anniversary except for 2007.

Photo Shoot

The Photo Shoot involves the clan dressing up in a pre-determined costume of the leadership's choice, and take part in various activities such as performing synchronised emotes for the purpose of obtaining impressive and memorable screenshots. Some historical costumes are black and white wizard robes (2005), Pirates and Ninjas (2008) and Spartans (2009). A Photo Shoot has been held every year for which there has been an Anniversary.

Firefest

The Firefest involves co-ordinating the clan to start hundreds of fires which cover a large area in-game. A Firefest has been held every year for which there has been an Anniversary.

WG Anniversaries

2004

The clan's first Anniversary was scheduled to commence on December 11th of 2004. After discussion, the first day took place on the 11th as planned, but the majority of events were held separately from the 19th to the 24th.

Day 1 on the 11th consisted of the Veteran War, Firefest, and concluded with a F2P clan-only drop party. Prior to the start, a Bronze war with The Federation was held a few hours earlier, but it is not considered part of the Anniversary celebrations.

Day 2 on the 19th initially had 2 events planned: Duel Arena and Agility Arena. The first took place as planned, and His Lordship handed out items such as Dragonstone amulets as prizes to anyone who could defeat him. The event was followed by Castle Wars, rather than Agility, and the Saradomin team won every round.

Day 3 on the 20th had 4 events. For the first 3, the clan jokingly changed their name to the "Wildy Fr00bs" and held a parade in Falador, a Congo Line and the Marketplace Disruption, in which they attempted to sell "poo". The clan name was reverted for the final event - a Fancy Dress contest which was won by Palidore.

Day 4 on the 21st had 2 events: the Photo Shoot and a public, P2P Drop Party. Themes for the Photo Shoot ranged from the "Nerd Club" to the "Dark Lords". Many Rune and Dragon items were dropped at the subsequent drop party, and the clan was wished happy birthday by many non-WG members as well.

Day 5 on the 22nd had Hide and Seek and Scavenger Hunt events planned. The Hide and Seek took place which was similar to the Clan Quest, and His Lordship gave away 500,000 GP in Rune items as prizes for the winners. After, the Scavenger Hunt event was replaced with a Kalphite Queen mass. The event was described as "interesting", with a note that no one lost anything of great value - suggesting that there were a considerable number of deaths.

Day 6 on the 23rd had 3 planned events: the Clan Quest, a King Black Dragon mass and a clan-only P2P drop party. For the Clan Quest, His Lordship was located on the first floor of the Varrock Castle. The KBD mass took place after as planned, but instead of the drop party to conclude, a Trawler Trip was hosted instead.

Day 7 was planned for the 24th of December, but postponed to January 7th, 2005. It involved a large-scale Iron war at the Demonic Ruins in the Wilderness. The Synergy, Fear, Legends Legion, The Sabres and WG all took part. Unfortunately, the fight was crashed by Zeonic Forces, with allegations of Damage Incorporated having been present as welll. The previously-postponed P2P drop party took place afterwards, where over 3,000,000 GP value in items was dropped. After the party, His Lordship declared the 2004 Anniversary to have concluded.

DG Anniversary

WG's junior clan the Descendant Guardians has celebrated one anniversary. This took place on June 20th 2012, exactly one year after The Reckoning in which the third iteration of DG was established.

Four events were held in total, lasting over four hours over the course of the single day. Each of the three staff members (Leader Vio and advisors Mojo and Koffin Cat) organised one. Mojo's event Battle Royale came first, which was a no-limits fight in the battlefield of WG's Clan Citadel. This was followed by Koffin Cat's One Night In Cabbage - a cabbage-bombing event at the Grand Exchange. Vio's Steel of Legends came third, in which DG and allies BlacKnights took part in a steel war (with rune weapons) in the Wilderness. The celebrations ended with The Rebirth - a drop party for both WG and DG in the Citadel, where 10,000,000 GP in items was dropped by Vio.
