WG massing for the 2013 Veteran War, 18 January 2004.

The 2013 Anniversary, or Clanniversary, was a celebration of the 10th birthday of the Wilderness Guardians, and consisted of around 5 events over the course of two days in January 2014.

Overview

In a much smaller anniversary than compared to previous celebrations which lasted around a week, the 2013 anniversary was only held for two days and had three planned events per day. These took place in both RuneScape 3 and Old-School RuneScape, marking the first occasion where events were split between the two games.

There is a significant lack of information and screenshots for the events, as no Forum recaps were posted. Al Fight On is known to have many screenshots saved from the series of events[1], but as of 2024 they appear to be lost to history. Bassism also live-streamed the first day on Twitch, but the recordings have not been saved. So far, only two screenshots have been found - both of the mass for the Veteran War.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, His Lordship also presented an audio-only narrated history of the clan, titled "The Shield of the Innocent", which covered the formation of WG up until 2006, and was 25 minutes long[2]. It was meant to be the first of two parts, however the second part was never completed. His Lordship offered all attendees entry into a draw for a pair of limited-edition WG boxer shorts - this was ultimately not held[3].

Day One

18 January 2014

Day 1 consisted of three planned events[4].

The Veteran War

Main article: Veteran War

The Veteran War took place in RuneScape 3 and followed the traditional format. Only two screenshots have been found of the event thus far, both of which are of the mass in Falador and none of the actual war.

This was notably Vio's first Veteran War - having joined WG in late 2009, missed the 2009 Veteran War due to real life commitments, missed the 2010 Veteran War due to leaving WG, and no anniversaries being held for 2011 and 2012. Vio was recording from the veterans' perspective - however the non-veteran leader Al Fight On targeted him as the first pile and thus the first death, making his footage useless.

Citadel Party

A tour of the RS3 Clan Citadel was planned, involving conga lines, races, and other novelty games. His Lordship also suggested visiting the old Clan House (the predecessor to the Citadel) for a game of musical chairs, and offered a mystery gift to the winner worth around USD $10.

The Firefest

The first Old-School event: a Firefest was planned to be hosted in Falador, with a "Flower Power" event afterwards as a possibility. No screenshots have been found.

Day Two

19 January 2014

Day 2 had consisted of two events[5] - however no screenshots have been found for either.

Photo Shoot

A photo shoot was planned to take place simultaneously in RS3 and OSRS - with players recreating the same poses across both games.

The Clan Quest

The clan quest took place in OSRS, and followed the traditional format. The teams were:

  • Team Pooman Syu - Pacman Syu, Marbian, This Babylon
  • Team Something - Karlfischer, Valdremia, and possibly Quikdrawjoe, Ernst, and Starzhine
  • Team Straya - Anatcrafter, Josheh, Zemus
  • The Master Baiters - Wizard Storm, Dragonlort, Al Fight On, TS Stormrage
  • Team Epsilon - Vio, Mojo, Armybuilder, Stokenut

Team Epsilon were the winners.
