The Descendant Guardians or DG were the junior clan of the Wilderness Guardians. Three instances of DG existed: DG1 from August 2005 to early 2006, DG2 from June to October 2006, and DG3 from June 2011 to March 2013. DG served primarily as a means for players lacking in levels, skill, and/or experience to prepare themselves for joining WG, though DG3 managed to establish themselves considerably as an independent clan in their own right.

Planning

The concept of a junior clan to the Wilderness Guardians was first announced on 8 March 2005. His Lordship planned to raise WG's Requirements to 85+ combat on 1 May 2005, and then to 90+ on 31^[sic] September 2005. Along with the 90+ raise, a junior program called "Descendant Guardians" would be opened to house levels 70 to 90. Members who did not reach 90 combat would be moved to the junior clan, apart from veterans. DG would have its own leader and council, and host separate PK trips, but the two clans would fight together in wars. These plans contradict an earlier belief that the concept of DG began with a post from the Anti Pkers clan - who did offer to serve as WG's junior clan in April 2005, but ultimately did not get involved.

Plans for opening the junior clan were announced to the public via the Rune Village Fansite in early 2005. In April 2005, it was announced that DG would open on 1 September 2005. Shortly after, WG received a sudden influx of applications following their war with The Unbreakables and breaking into the top clan league - and the opening of DG was rescheduled 1 month earlier to accomodate this.

DG1

DG1 opened on 1 August 2005 with Gibble00 as the leader, Dsgames2003, Mochaho456, Sir Jereth, and His Lordship serving as secondary leaders, and Dorcha3377 serving as a moderator.

The junior clan operated smoothly and with considerable success for the first few months. Members who joined through DG included Stokenut - who would later go on to serve as a high-ranking staff member in both clans. WG and DG held several events together, and in late 2005 the two clans began PKing together to improve DG members' performance in the Wilderness.

In mid-November of 2005, with His Lordship on holiday, Blazer903 suceeded Gibble00 as leader of DG, and was later joined by Inundation1 as a co-leader. However, both would step down by January of 2006 as they could not invest adequate time into leadership. Oak Island - a WG member who had moved to DG in order to aid them - became the sole leader of DG. A few DG were unhappy with the change, however many became loyal to Oak - to the point where they would refuse to transition into WG upon meeting the senior clan's requirements. As a result, WG staff planned to increase their control over DG, which itself resulted in Oak Island and several loyal members leaving to form Oak Island Pirates - the only exodus to come from the junior clan of WG. Following these events, His Lordship closed DG1 around late January/early February of 2006, and the remaining members were transitioned into WG.

DG2 opened in June 2006, amidst WG's success as one of the top 5 P2P clans. Despite the in-game success, the atmosphere of the senior clan had been decaying with fights breaking out and many members leaving or being removed. To counter the losses, the staff chose to re-open DG. It is not clear who the original leadership and staff of DG2 were - some time during or after August 2006, Kenshln, Kaioken757, and Stokenut (the latter a former DG member himself) were elected to the DG council, and are the only recorded staff members of DG2.

The reopening of DG came with a steady inflow of new members and a boost of morale. On 22-23 July 2006, DG fought alongside WG and allied clans in the X vs DS war - the largest fight in DG's history.

In late 2006, His Lordship was forced to step down from leadership of WG due to real life issues, and further complications began to arise following his departure. The replacement leadership - Tmal34 and Twizlers300 - decided that DG2 would be phased out due to the council being unable to cope with running a junior clan. DG2 closed in October 2006, and all members transitioned into WG.

DG3

DG3 was the longest and considerably most successful iteration of DG - lasting almost two years from 20 June 2011 to 2 March 2013, and establishing themselves as an independent clan with frequent PK trips, anti-crash events for other clans, and even taking on other fully-fledged main clans in wars and PK run-ins.

2011

Five years after DG2, DG3 opened on 20 June 2011 as part of The Reckoning. Vio (as DG Keanu) was given the position of Leader, which caused some controversy as hostilities with his exodus The Blade Keepers had ended only a few months prior - however concerns eventually dissippated. Garrett xD was appointed as an Advisor - though he would resign on 3 August 2011 and later become exiled due to hostilities. The clan's first requirements were set at 90 to 109 combat (WG was 110+ at the time), though this was later reduced to 80 to 109.

Though the clan did not have the numbers of its predecessors, DG3 quickly got involved in PvP - starting with fighting other clans in the Clan Wars arena as "war practice", and after just one month they defeated The Eleventh Hour - an established main clan - in an iron war on 20 July 2011, without any aid from WG. On 10 August 2011, DG hosted a PK trip of their own without WG's support, with considerable success. DG's independence in PvP continued to develop, as well as their relationship with other clans. They formed an alliance with Soldiers of Fury and hosted several allied events and war practices. On 6 October 2011, DG had their first unplanned PK run-in, and were soon taking part in large-scale fights alongside the senior clan.

On 29 September 2011, Vio was taken ill and gave Alain (Koffin Cat) the Advisor rank and full control over DG. Vio did return to activity shortly after, but Alain was allowed to retain the Advisor position after a clan vote. In November 2011, DG defeated WG's long-term allies The Sabres in a friendly bronze war, in one of TS's last notable events prior to their closure in 2014. Towards the end of 2011, DG started providing anti-crash services to other clans' fights during DG PK trips, earning the clan a significant positive reputation within the wider clan community.

2012

2012 began with the release of DG's own clan website, and the start of an alliance with the established and reputable clan The BlacKnights, following the closure of SoF in late 2011. Vio also made the decision to promote Mojo to Advisor - a decision which many WG staff disagreed with, though ultimately proving to be a good one as Mojo would later serve as Leader of WG. On 5 Febuary 2012, DG fought Poison in their first planned Wilderness PKRI against an established main clan - despite ending in a defeat for DG, it was considered a "moral victory".

DG continued with reasonable success throughout early 2012, and for the first time were able to celebrate an Anniversary on 20 June 2012, one year after The Reckoning. Following this, DG took part in the 2012 Jagex Cup alongside WG. DG at this point was deemed to be self-sustainable as a clan, and so the decision was made to relax independent PvP and focus on training members to ready them for the senior clan - this included a training programme called Operation Little Wing (inspired by Operation Purple Haze) to help DG members gain levels.

In August 2012, the leadership of WG and DG was combined - meaning Vio would now serve as a WG advisor and His Lordship as DG advisor, while existing advisors and other tertiary staff now served for both clans. However, this resulted in Vio devoting significant time to WG matters, and by the end of the year, DG's progress had stalled considerably - though joint events between DG and WG continued regularly. By September, OLW had successfully achieved a decent amount of training and several transferrals, but was ended on 1 October 2012 due to the financial demand on Vio who had funded the whole operation personally.

2013

Early 2013 came with the release of Old-School RuneScape, which WG would eventually decide to focus most of their efforts on - and with all members having to train new accounts up from scratch, it was decided that a junior clan was no longer necessary. On 2 March 2013, a few weeks after the release of OSRS, DG3 closed and all members transitioned into WG.

Future

Plans for a DG4 were made in late 2016 and construction on features such as forums began, but the project was mothballed due to Vio (who would have taken leadership again) encountering real life issues. At present, the clan does not intend to revive DG within the immediate future.
