The Veteran War, 22 January 2011.

The 2010 Anniversary was a celebration of the 7th Anniversary of the Wilderness Guardians. Around 21 different events were hosted over the course of seven or eight days in January of 2011.

Screenshots from 2010 events were unfortunately stored on Photobucket and re-collected in 2024, and are now suffering from extreme compression.

Preparation

WG members wearing the new costume prior to the Public Drop Party, 22 January 2011.

The 2010 Anniversary was planned for seven consecutive days in January 2011 - having been delayed due to the clan's Australian Real life meeting. An eighth day was also planned for 30 January, featuring at first a multi-clan bronze war[1], which was later changed to a standard war against the clan 420 PKers[2]. His Lordship believes that the eighth day ultimately did not take place, and there are no screenshots or a Forum recap to prove otherwise - however some members claimed that the war did take place, and WG won.

A new costume for members to wear during events was chosen by Kevin/Kcross73:

  • Desert Robe Top
  • Desert Robe Bottom
  • Desert Boots
  • Mime Gloves or Cooking Gauntlets
  • Harpie Bug Lantern
  • Horse Banner
  • Coloured Wig (a variety of colours were handed out for a rainbow effect)

Day One

WG massing for the Veteran War, 22 January 2011.

22 January 2011

Day 1 consisted of three events[3]. A video of the day was made by Jayson, but it has since been removed[4].

The Veteran War

Main article: Anniversary#Veteran_War

The Veteran War took place as planned. A humorous highlight of the event was Quikdrawjoe wearing a steel med helmet and chainbody, attacking His Lordship (both were on the veteran team), before teleporting out using the Explorer's Ring ("cabbage-porting") mid-fight.

The Public Drop Party

A public drop party was held in the Falador Party Room. WG members were asked to bring 500,000 - 700,000 coins worth of loot to drop, though the exact total is unknown.

The Firefest

The Firefest, which traditionally has been held north of Falador, was this year held in Varrock and the Grand Exchange.

Day Two

The Clan Quest, 23 January 2011.

23 January 2011

Day 2 consisted of only one event as far as records go[5]. A Photo Shoot was scheduled following the Clan Quest[6], but no screenshots survive from the event if it did take place.

The Clan Quest

The Clan Quest was held in the traditional format - though details about the clues, His Lordship's location, and the winners were not recorded.

Day Three

WG "crashes" the Grand Exchange, 30 January 2011.

30 January 2011

Day 3 was scheduled to be held on the 24th - however poor signups led to it being rescheduled twice, and making it the last chronological day of the Anniversary (presuming the eighth day was not held afterwards). It consisted of two known events - a third Musical Chairs event was planned[7] - however there are no screenshots of this event, and as His Lordship was not present in the recap's attendance, it was unlikely that the event occurred as it normally requires usage of the Clan House[8].

Ultimate Runescapez

This was a new and unique event which involved skilling and resource collecting around the Feldip Hills/Soul Wars area, though further information is unknown as the event's plan was laid out in an image which has since been lost to history.

Market Crash

For the first time since the 2005 anniversary, a Market Crash event was held - in which members placed down cannons, planted flowers, and spammed using toy horsies at the Grand Exchange. Prior to the Grand Exchange, this would have actually caused some sort of disruption to the markets which worked on advertising and physical trading; the 2010 "crash" was more of a symbolic event.

Day Four

WG PKing on the Megaraid of Death, 25 January 2011.

25 January 2011

Day 4 consisted of two events[9].

The Snowball Fight

An interclan war atop White Wolf Mountain, with members wearing black robes and using wind strike to simulate snowballs. This would be WG's last snowball fight before the removal of PvP worlds on 1 February 2011.

The Megaraid of Death

A Megaraid (large-scale PK trip) was held in shallow Wilderness.

Day Five

26 January 2011

Day 5 consisted of three events[10].

Rubik's Cube

Another new event invented for the anniversary. The participants were sent into the combat ring of the Clan House wearing six items of clothing, each of a different colour. The objective was to exchange the items with each other so that they could all exit the ring wearing six items of the same colour.

Trivia

Prior to the anniversary, Vio left WG and formed the Exodus The Blade Keepers, which WG would then enter a rivalry with. As a result, His Lordship nor any of the Council members did not post Forum recaps for the anniversary events[11]. Ironically, it would be Vio who - after having left WG, led a rival clan against WG, closed the clan, joined another clan, and finally rejoined WG - would finally recap the anniversary almost six months later: assembling attendance and screenshots of all the events, posting recap topics for each day, and allowing members to have their attendance counted. All of Vio's topics opened with an IRC quote from His Lordship, saying: "lol screenshot this text on every recap saying you have my permission top recap the anniversary, as i am lazier than jabba the hutt."[12].

While anniversary screenshots were usually collected for a page as part of the WG Website photo gallery, the 2010 page was never updated. The first time that a comprehensive collection of screenshots for the full 2010 anniversary was put together was for this wiki page, by Vio in August 2024 - over thirteen years after the anniversary itself.
