History
Rick considers himself one of the earliest members of WG, though the exact date on which he first joined is unknown.
Co-Leader
Rick was elected to the position of Co-Leader on 15 March 2004, following the previous co-leader Sum41xx's resignation. According to the clan website at the time, Rick's duties involved:
- Answering clan members' queries
- Moderating the clan Forums
- Stabilising Clan Production
Rick also served as "Clan Fletcher" - likely due to a high fletching level - and a Promotion Referee[1].
On 27 April 2004, it was decided that His Lordship and Rick Hamm would share leadership of the clan[2] - however rather than being an equal holder of the rank of "Leader", Rick was still listed as the "Second ranking leader of the clan". On 17 May 2004, Rick and Lord Xin's positions as co-leaders were celebrated in a ceremony.
The Synergy
- Main article: The Synergy
During the founding of The Synergy in August of 2004, Rick left WG for the new clan - with the understanding that Syn and WG would become allies. However after hostilities increased, Rick returned to WG.
The Revolution
- Main article: The Revolution
Rick would leave for the second time around January 2005, this time as a result of public comments by His Lordship critical of the USA. In response, Rick and Noricle left WG to form the Exodus and rival The Revolution. Rick believes that The Revolution had some of the highest-ranking players in RuneScape, and had the sole intention of killing WG. However, TR disbanded on 24 March 2005, and Rick returned to WG the next day[3].
Later Career
After The Revolution, Rick returned to WG. He is known to have continued to serve as an official - as one example, acting with His Lordship's approval, Rick withdrew WG from The Federation on 30 September 2005[4]. However, he would continue to have a relatively unstable career with the clan - being kicked and/or banned on at least two separate occasions. He also joined Clan Jaguar for a brief period, but did not enjoy his time with them[5].
Rick considered himself "retired" from RuneScape around 2008, though when WG's Hall of Shame was cleared in early 2010, he returned to the game, introed to WG on 15 November 2010[6] and was accepted the next day. In an interview with Vio around the same time, he stated regarding his return:
I guess the main reason I came back now was because I missed the game and the game really isn't fun without being in a clan. WG was my first clan and it was always the clan I came back to because it was what I am familiar with. That's not to say there aren't dillholes in this clan that I would love nothing more than verbally bitchslap back into reality, but I guess any clan has those. I've made life long friends with [His Lordship] and we understand each other more than one might think. Yeah, we may not agree on alot of things but the mutual respect is there enough.
Rick did not make the transition from IPB to SMF in June 2011, and this is believed to be the end of his career with WG - apart from occasionally visiting the clan in Discord.
Real Life
Rick Hamm (real name) was born in 1969 and is from Michigan, USA. He considers himself to be religious[7] and a strong American patriot, and has at least 3 children. Outside of RuneScape he is known to have enjoyed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 1980's music, bowling, and spending time with his family.
