Assassins of Shadow (AS) was a RuneScape 2 clan founded by Ubg-fcbruges, and an exodus of the Wilderness Guardians. No hostilities are known to have occurred between AS and WG, and the clan remained stable and active until their closure in 2008.

History

AS meets Red Dragon Knights for a P2P war in the Clan Wars Arena

AS was an Honour clan founded by former WG member Ubg Fcbruges. It is not known when the clan opened - Ubg Fcbruges stated that at the time of their closure in 2008 they had existed for around 3 years, which would put their formation in 2005 - though no records have been found to verify this. The earliest activity on their last known forums was on 10 July 2007[1], though visible topic titles suggest that these were not the first forums which AS operated from.

AS comprised largely of other ex-WG members. The reasons for the split from WG are unknown - however no hostilities occurred, and there is no mention of AS within WG's written history.

AS was a considerably successful clan and held several events over the course of its lifetime: wars and PK trips, PvM events such as masses for the King Black Dragon and God Wars Dungeon, and various community/fun events.[2] In December 2007, AS opened a junior clan, AS Juniors.[3]

AS closed on 29 October 2008[4] mainly due to a lack of activity, and Ubg Fcbruges posted a re-introduction to WG on the same day.[5] His Lordship welcomed him back, and expressed regret that AS had closed.

Trivia

  • AS's motto, "We are the Shadow of the Wilderness", bore structural similarity to WG's motto at the time, "We are the Shield of the Innocent".
  • Like its ancestor WG, AS had a separate website and forum. The website - created in Adobe Flash - bore strong similarity to that of WG's popular Flash website but on a much simpler scale. Both websites shared features such as an indoor setting, a bookshelf, a lectern, scrolls to display written information, and a selection of orchestral and instrumental background music.[6]
