The Clan Wiki is an online encylopedia which serves to document all aspects of the Wilderness Guardians, past and present.

Modern Wiki

6 December 2019 - Present

The current version of the wiki was released on 6 December 2019. It was announced by Mojo on the Forums and X, along with the commencement of the 2019 Anniversary[1]. It uses MediaWiki software, and unlike previous iterations is integrated into the clan's Website, rather than using an external platform.

Mojo and Vio began initial work to populate the wiki upon release, though efforts were hindered by Vio joining Cutthroat in 2019 and Deathrow in 2020. In August 2024, despite remaining in DR, Vio resumed work on the wiki.

History

The Wiki is a project which has mainly been run by Vio since 2010.

7 July 2010 - 20 June 2011

As the Historian of WG, Vio (as WG Keanu) first began the project of a wiki on 14 June 2010, using the RuneScape Clans Wiki - an external platform run using Fandom software. It took nearly a month for him to put together a single page, and the first iteration was shown to His Lordship and released to the clan on 7 July 2010[2]. In the forum post, His Lordship provided the following testimonial:

This is the heart of WG. The past, the present and the future, and it's much more than just a history. It is a temple of knowledge that will allow our legacy to live forever. Though you can never fully summarise a story that has been told for six years and counting, I believe Keanu has extracted the deepest, most important elements of what makes WG unique. It is a must read for every lover of the clan.

The wiki at this point was only a single webpage, though it took up 36 pages in Microsoft Word and had a word count of 14,756. It managed to briefly cover the majority of the clan's aspects, both historical and current - although some sections remained incomplete even upon release. On the same day, it was chosen by the wiki staff to be featured on the main page.

Vio continued to update the single-page wiki until 28 December 2010, when the amount of information reached such a high degree that he decided it needed to be split into sub-sections. These were:

These categories served as a foundation for the majority of future iterations of the wiki up until 2019.

Vio continued to gradually work and improve on the wiki until The Reckoning in June 2011, when his work as Historian was deprioritised as he took leadership of the re-opened Descendant Guardians.

Mid 2012 - Late 2015

In 2012, Jagex incorporated a wiki onto the runescape.com website, which players could edit. After confirming that pages/sections for player-run clans were permitted, Vio set about creating a page for WG. As before it was divided into sub-sections, and the vast majority of the information was copied directly from the original wiki - though Vio took the time to update and include some more recent aspects such as the clan's Citadel and The Reckoning. Vio also created a separate wiki entry for DG, though it was only deemed to require a single page[3].

Vio also publically announced his work on the Zybez/RuneScape Community Fansite, and encouraged other clans to get involved. The post received mixed feedback, though a number well-known clans such as The Gladiatorz[4] and Divine Forces[5] did go on to create significant wiki pages of their own.

The RuneScape Community wiki survived for around three years - the last archive of it is from November 2015. At some point Jagex removed the wiki feature from their website - likely as a result of externally-hosted wikis serving the same purpose and being more actively used and updated by players.

SharkBrew

2021 - 2022

SharkBrew is a fansite mainly used by pure clans, which received an influx of main clans following the closure of Zybez in 2016 and began to cater to them somewhat. Around 2021 they incorporated a wiki using MediaWiki software, and Vio set to work creating a page for WG. The current version of the WG wiki had been released by this point, and the SharkBrew page was not intended as a replacement, but rather a single page containing a simplified version of the information available on WG's own wiki. As such, it differed greatly from previous iterations, and had five main sections:

The SharkBrew wiki remained largely unfinished as the clan (and main clans in general) had little interest in utilising SharkBrew to the same degree as they had done for Zybez, and after around two years SharkBrew removed the wiki feature from their site.
