The Rune Outlaws (RO) was a no-honour clan formed during or before 2004. RO was one of WG's most notorious rivals at the time, and hostilities between the clans resulted in the declaration of three wars and multiple fights throughout late 2004 and early 2005. RO's dishonourable actions resulted in negative publicity which had forced the clan to close by mid 2006.

Formation

RO was founded by Renesito during or before 2004. Not much is known about RO's early history, other than it was an American-based PvP clan which also partook in various non-PvP events, and its homeworld was world 65. Toddrogers was also a leader, and known council members included Advanse, Candbeansoup, Orthian, Mtanec, and Corbear007. Moderators included Guitaristpj7 and Punjabit316.[1] Deadlyjosh was a notable member of RO who held the rank of "Paladin".

First War

Hostilities arose between WG and RO after His Lordship recieved an insulting message apparently from RO, and declared war. A third clan, the Knights of Death were also involved by accident, leading to a three-way fight at Annakarl. Due to RO breaking the Terms of War by wearing different coloured capes and leaving the war zone, WG claimed a victory by default, and the cheating clan was subsequently shunned by the wider clan community.

Second War

In December 2004, Deadlyjosh desecrated the grave site of Write2brandy (a WG member believed to have died of cancer, for whom an in-game funeral was held) leading to WG declaring war on RO for the second time. The event gained widespread support from the clan community and a large alliance of clans amassed to avenge Brendan, though RO ultimately did not show for the battle. However, Brendan was "avenged" when Deadlyjosh was killed in-game by WG in February 2005.

Third War

A third war against RO was scheduled for 23 April 2005.[2] On the day of the war, WG massed at Varrock chapel before heading to the Wilderness.[3] Upon arriving at Annakarl, RO requested a change of worlds, from the arranged 50 to 19. However, this was done with the intention of attacking WG unprepared as they hopped worlds, which RO did. RO also violated the terms of war by bringing allies - Demonic Legends (DL) and Afro Clan (AC) are confirmed to have been present. WG was initially cleared, and His Lordship challenged RO to a series of deathmatches to determine the victor - however, RO declined to take part. WG then regrouped with their allies Fear, and proceeded to carry out successful hits on DL and another clan only referred to as TD. This would be the final time WG considered a planned fight with RO.[4]

Aftermath

RO recieved a significant amount of negative publicity as a result of these battles, and their tarnished reputation led to the clan's eventual collapse. The last surviving record of RO's activity comes from a recruitment topic posted in May 2006, and their forums had ceased to exist by July 2006.[5] Even as far as 2010, Renesito continued to attempt to publicly slander WG, well after RO's closure. On the video of the first war he commented to challenge the video's ending and ultimate result. These claims were dismissed by Vio, with His Lordship simply replying, Lol Renesito our clan lived and yours died. We win.
