After a very heated discussion with my fellow council members, one that involved machine guns, light sabers and chocolate, we have come to the following decision.
Reports are now monthly.
The council, sorry, the inferior members of the council who have half a brain, such as Wildflame, Palidore, Anincent and Oaktownrules, do not wish to present a fortnightly report. So now they have more time to relax (or vegetate) and you will get 1 month's coverage in a single report.
The clan's progress this month has been slower than other months. In some areas we've picked up, but we're slipping behind in other things.
The most significant event of the month is the disbanding of the Revolution. Since it will be mentioned several times in this report, I shall quickly give the new members a brief overview of the clan report. The Revolution was a clan that was not so different from ours. In fact, a large number of their members were ex-members of our clan, and the clan actually came out of WG at the end of 2004. We were very close clans, but unfortunately we were not very friendly to each other. The Revolution has since disbanded.
The council's aim for April 2005 is NEW MEMBERS FEELING WELCOME. The clan has been growing steadily, sometimes rapidly since January, and I can now officially declare us stable. Now that we no longer have to concentrate on stability, we want to make sure no new members are left in the dark. It takes time to feel the guardian spirit, and we want to shorten that time to a few seconds, rather than a few weeks. To the new members... We are not neglecting you. Your needs are not inferior to the longer lasting members. In fact, our older members should be serving you.
Always help the little guy. Always help the little guy. Always help the little guy. We do it all the time when we antiPK. We must do it to ourselves too. The Earl of March, over RV, told me
"I admire you for your ability to look after the little people who don't have a voice. I've watched you grow from your first post in RV, when everyone was pulling you down, to now, in all your majesty. Always look after the little people"
We must hold true to this. It is the greatest thing we stand for.
Good luck guardians. I forecast more growth and happiness from everyone.
One note: Open up a reply box and type up any changes you want to make to the report. Its open for change. If you want to add something go right ahead.
2. Maturity -Wildflame110Raids have all been at exceptional attendance and behaviour has on a whole been superb. There is, as always, a few people late and a considerable volume of talk constantly going on, but as a whole the clan is working as a team on raids, an excellent sign of future dominance to come. Flaming and spamming has been kept down on the forums, thanks to our ever-vigilant Palidore, so thanks to him once again.
On this note, raids have become quite slack, and we must maintain silence where appropriate.
A reminder to all members, that there is to be no running off. This has several effects on our raids. Other clans get an advance warning and can retreat before we have the chance to attack, people who leave the group are vulnerable, the raid is held up when we have to wait for you to return to rank. Please maintain a mature approach to raids.
Doomaster has been removed from the clan because he has been lacking respect toward the clan and has been manipulating rules to suit his needs. To be specific, spoiling our Snowball fight, arguing with members, defiant attitude toward the leadership.
3. Events -His LordshipLet me drill this into you one last time. Please don't talk at raids! We play around with life and death. There are appropriate times for talking, and its not if you can't talk at all... a little bit is fine. And running off... It has huge downsides. If you run of you are firstly vulnerable. You could get killed easily. Second, you warn our prey of our arrival. Finally you slow down the raid when we have to wait for you. When we camp, you may walk off, as long as you keep the campsite on your minimap.
We've gone for a month without a single ambush. However raids have been very quiet. We're hardly running into anyone nowadays... Actually that's not true. There are a few times where we absolutely own lots and lots of people and get huge sums of kills, but raids are mostly quiet.
Don't forget, kills are only half the reason we raid. The other half is being guardians. And we're doing a dam good job. Anyway, yes our raids have been huge successes.
Capes! Wear the clan cape! Even if we know you, it shows you take pride in our clan, and that you are professional. You are expected to get your own, but just in case, I have some spares which I will give to clan members if they arrive 20 minutes early. If you are later than 20 minutes early I shall not provide capes.
Nor shall the clan sell you anything. Please come prepared. We aren't going to wait for you, and we shall not be selling things at the last minute. If a few people do it, more and more people will think its acceptable. So please, be early.
Non wilderness events have been great. We're having a lot more. Our photo album is a testament to that. Check it out. Snowball fights, Miniwars, rubber chicken whackathons, birthday parties, rune making contests and more.
Wilderness Guardians Photo ArchiveI thank you deeply for taking screenshots for me to pt up on the website. Please keep them coming. The more the merrier.
Attendance is usually 20-25 people per raid, and since have 4 of them, that's quite a fair few. That's the perfect number in my opinion. Big enough to take on most other clans and own, and small enough to have control over the clan, and keep things in order.
Recaps should be automatic things for members to post up in the Clan Events forums. They are all there if you need to check. If you've been at a raid and a recap was not posted, please post it.
4. Changes and Ideas -Wildflame110Little to report in this area, except that the introduction of the Emeritus rank has enabled respected senior members of this clan who have since retired to continue to be a part of our clan community. Also, the recent influx of new members should be noted as a change; our clan is becoming more and more powerful.
Of course the largest change we have come by this fortnight is the new definition of antiPKing in the Wilderness. No longer do we attack first stop later. Nor do we base our attacks upon suspicion. Now, we attack on the assumption that players with skulls are PKers.
Andrewtheart and Erinol are also starting up a lost armour fund already worth over 1 mill from the donations of the clan. Its success would bring further glory and honour to our clan.
THe Photo Archives now has a Leader's Choice for raid pics. As you know, raids have so many monthly pictures, not all of them make it, and they get repetitive. People don't want to see someone bowing down before us 100 times. So now we have a Leader's Choice, to show different pictures that capture different aspects of the clan.
I think I should foreshadow (Palidore mentions it later) that the greatest change in all of us was in the heart. The Revolution, a clan who many of us despised, met its end, and we were filled with sympathy. Thank you for showing the spirit of the Wilderness Guardians.
5. New Members and Advertising -His LordshipWell most of our new members are coming in from the Revolution, or from friends. our advertising attempts are failing because I don't get support from the clan via posts of recommendation. There are a lot of people who do, and they have my respect for it, but with a clan this big we can definitely do better. Thanks especially to Jezzamon who keeps up our attempts to advertise on public forums.
Check out the Noteworthy topics part of this report to help advertise for your clan. There is a link called "Your clan needs you". Please help us.
As usual, only about 30% of all new recruits post on the boards. The inactive members are growing again. The people that actually use our forums would number from about 150-200
Our clan site is definitely better, but we still need to get around to finishing the clan history and updating some old information. If you know something that needs updating, please email me. But yes, its an impressive and informative site, and it definitely appeals to people. Its also receiving a lot of visitors. This month we've used up 83% of our bandwidth, which is 3GB so yes, we receive hundreds of visitors. About 500 every month.
6. Member Happiness -Wildflame 110The clan is seeing very few people leave, and since the dispute between Rat Tormango and Holly, no real fights have started up, except the ongoing rivalry between me and lordy, that is. Everyone seems happy, and the community spirit is still there, so I say good stuff, all!
One issue is Spike, who was accidentally killed on a raid by the clan. That has lowered the rating a little, and Danisgerman being unhappy with Doomaster.
Rh79 left the clan because he was unhappy with the way he was treated, and there are one or two others that feel this way. In this area, we have been let down.
Note to self: Make lordy make report monthly rather than fortnightly
7. Leadership and the Council -PalidoreSo far behind the scenes in leadership its been relatively quiet.
All of us (this includes several of you too) have been trying to gain new members.
So come support your clan by posting in this[broken link/no archive] topic on Rune Village!
If your not registered, please register, it only takes a few minutes!
There haven't been any significant problems in the leadership. His Lordship is still, and will be very busy with his studies, since he will be graduating at the end of the school year.
In this past 2 weeks, we have promoted once again several deserving members. Although there are so many members applying, so if you are thinking about making a promotion post, please read ALL the stickied post in the forums, and make sure you have everything right. It'll get you your promotion faster, and it will definitely make our jobs easier.
And last for this topic, a to do list, in no particular order.
Gaining more members
Fixing flow of promotions
Still improving relationships between us and our allies
Switching mods around to different forums
Possibly after moving around mods, offering positions to a few members
Making this report monthly *Hint Hint Lordy*
Palidore's to do list:
Raid more often >_<
8. Diplomacy -PalidoreWell, not too much to say about wars lately. As were still on a no war streak.
If people have been paying attention to our growing active guest forums, we were asked by a pretty new clan for a miniature fun war, which I was kind of disappointed to see how some of our members acted to the respective guest. If it were against enemies, I can understand, but if its just a respectable clan that simply asked for a fun war, don't go off at them unless you understand completely what they're asking.
As mentioned in the to do list, we still eventually want to have more allied events, just been somewhat busy... and maybe a bit lazy 😉 But don't worry, we will definitely get active with our allies sooner or later....preferably sooner.
The biggest thing we have to keep in mind about diplomacy is The Revolution. They have disbanded and we as a clan sympathise towards them and are more than willing to take them under our wing. This is both the greatest and worst piece of news in the history of our Diplomacy. While we gain back our friends, we also lose the clan which we were working so hard for peace with, and succeeding.
As for our enemies, we've had no big problems with any. KOD most likely have forgotten about us, rune outlaws have been shut up pretty much after humiliating themselves by not showing up for the war. And if were lucky, they disbanded. Lol.
Lordy's Edit: They've got new leadership and have been asking for an alliance. The post regarding this will be put in the Diplomacy forum later.
9. Strength and Power -OaktownrulesThis fortnight, our wilderness success has certainly increased. We have run into fewer powerful clans and we drove off smaller clans and groups. We even held our own against some of the more powerful groups. All in all, this has been overall a good 2 weeks of wilderness anti-PKing. I hear fewer reports of unhappy members due to us not dying nearly as much as the previous fortnight.
Of course, the minimum combat level is the largest component of this section of the report. Therefore it is important to note that the minimum level shall become 85 combat by the end of April and later in the year will hit the final requirement of 90 combat.
The continuous training and determination by our members has increased our effectiveness in the wilderness, and we see ourselves getting better because of the increased lvls in the clan. Our tactics have pretty much remained the same, but since we are getting better at combat, we get better as a whole.
The clan has seen a drop in clan production, but individual members are somewhat richer. The clan bank is doing well, based on donations to it by members of the clan. Members simply have found ways to profit themselves without the aid of the clan.
The average member level is around 87, give or take .2 of a level. Our HP lvl is about 71-72.
Remember to keep training, and all of the hard work will pay off in the end. If you are currently at 80, shoot for 85 in a month (it may not happen but 83 or 84 is still better than getting nothing done). If you are at 85, go for 88. And dont always think that just because you are at or above the average level that you are okay, because you should always keep training and making yourself better.
10. Anti-PKing -AnincentIn the last fortnight, it has been rather quiet in the wilderness (compared to other times). A number of people are unhappy with the killings of non-skullers/innocents in the wilderness, but it seems that it has improved a little over these past two weeks. Approximately 50% of the Wilderness Guardians agree that our current method of Anti-PKing isn't good enough compared to the "Mages Bind Anyone" technique. 30% think that we should attack and kill anyone who looks like they may be PKing, but the last 20% say that we should attack anyone but stop if they're non-skulled. The majority of the votes shows that the second option was preferred amongst the members, but the Anti-PKing rule is still being discussed amongst the Clan Council. The rule will most likely be changed to this one.
Our new members are killing more and more innocents and some even suggest we drop our antiPKing ways. This is disappointing, because it means that some members lack the respect for non-PKers.
11. Clan Production -AnincentThere have been lots of ideas and people willing to help with smithing within this clan this fortnight.
I'm glad that people are taking their initiative to try to help the clan. We are sharing skills more than last fortnight.
Other than that, we seem to be sufficient in supplying things within our clan -
the clan bank is being topped up with many of the thing that we need.
More apprenticeships need to be given out though. I feel that there really has to be some skill sharing.
Some good skills for apprenticeships are:
Cooking- Giving raw fish and getting someone to cook it.
Fletching. Giving logs/flax/strings and asking someone to fletch them.
Magic- Giving items for someone to alch
Herblore- Having someone mix your potions for you
Crafting. Getting people to cut gems for you.
Smithing- Getting people to smelt your ores
The market is very active, with replies in at least 3 posts everyday!
12. Forum Cleanliness -PalidoreThere has been hardly any spamming this month, so I'm very happy that everyone has been behaving. If you have/haven't noticed, moderators haven't had much to do. Yeah I know its no fun eh guys?
Most, if not all of you noticed from important announcements, Oaktownrules, his lordship, and myself have swept several inactive members off the forums, which brought our member count down quite a bit actually 🔲
People mostly have been using the forums correctly, although I have noticed some topics in wrong forums, mostly by newish members. Instead of moving it myself, I was oh so considerate enough to leave it to the other mods (I swear I wasn't being lazy 🙂 )
As I stated in the last report, the most members on at a time was just below 40, and it still stands that way. So if everyone can, just stop by the forums daily, and just post, even just once. I know lots of people don't care much bout the forums, and only read the announcements, but I promise, once you start posting, you'll like it.
Oh, and please, stop using this smiley: 🔲
It was funny the first few hundred thousand times. And this one too 🔲
Keep smilies to times where they are appropriate please!
14. Other DetailsThe death list hasn't changed very much within these two weeks. A few of the bounties seem to be rather large, but I suppose if people want someone dead that badly then it's their choice. The clan bank is a great idea and has filled up considerably since it first came into existence. So if anyone is needing anything in particular for raids and etc. don't hesitate to ask His Lordship if you want to buy something from the clan bank - it's only there so that you can find convenience in using it.
Palidore is still due for his medal for being member of the month, and I'll tell you now that 2 medals will be awarded at the beginning of April.
Also, please use the clan world. For members that is 27. If you have a world you really like, then you don't really need to use the clan world, but I strongly recommend you do. Clan members can buy and sell things from each other easily, do stuff like training together, and if we want to hold an event, we can do it quickly.
15. Rating -OaktownrulesThis report's rating is a 75/100
We have seen an increase from last report because this time, the clan seems more stable, and we now have only minor issues with members leaving, arguments, and deaths in wilderness.
The comparison rating: 39, placing us in my opinion as around rank 39 out of all Runescape clans, and when the requirements go up, expect the rating to go up too.
