Introduction - His Lordship

As I begin this reflection over the last month, I recall many events and people that will change the future of the clan, and my life, forever.

I find writing these lines to be of great difficulty, because this dynamic family of people has gone so far, and through so much, I cannot possibly select a particular place to start.

As I cast my mind back to the earlier days of April, I ponder on the question, "Where were we?" I recall the old s4 forums, the hackings that almost took us apart, our re-entry into the heat of war. Four weeks ago, faces such as Spirit Seer, Robbiethe2nd, and Chaddaman124 were unfamiliar to us, along with many more. As we welcomed them into our family, we sealed our promise to them, to make them feel welcome and to accept them as new members of our group.

That is what this report brings into perspective. Have we been faithful to our promise?

Terakaern, upon his appointment as a leader of this fine clan, gave an oath,

QUOTE
I swear to uphold all laws of the Wilderness Guardians,
I swear service to my clansmen,
I promise to keep the antiPKing legacy alive,
I promise to shield the innocent and to protect the lesser men of Runescape.

I will fight for dignity, freedom and innocence,
I shall always be a Wilderness Guardian at heart, now and forevermore
And I promise to lead with honesty and humility.

This clan, to him, means far more than moving pixels on a screen. He sees the humans behind the words. I'm proud to say that I have the comfort of mind to know that every one of you will willingly take this oath yourselves.

What I'm trying to say is, as I reflect upon the last month, in which I had the honour to better know you fine people, I have seen growing potential. I have seen something, especially in more recent days, come out of this clan, that I've never seen before. We've broken the Runescape barrier, and extended our trust to the world outside. I've seen people grow as human beings because of this clan. I've seen boys become men, and true lasting friendships bloom.

It is in this trust, that our secret of vitality lies. If we have eachother, WG will never die. Never forget this. Stop thinking about the ME, and look at the broader picture. There is just so much WG has to offer Runescape and the world. When I founded this clan, Never had I imagined we would become such a great clan. If only the outside world could see the beauty within this place.

Continue you to fight for innocence, freedom and justice. Guardians, you've left a month that you should be proud of being in.

GUARDIANS UNITE!

Maturity - Wildflame110

Maturity. The word sends shudders through some of you who have either suffered from being around people lacking it, or those of you who have been accused of lacking it. The truth of the matter is that there is one single place where maturity REALLY matters, and that is on raids / wilderness events. And, as per usual, we have some raids that are absolutely mature like a real army's supposed to be; and some raids that remind me of kids playing in a sandpit on the edge of a cliff.

Allow me to state the one important rule of a raid:
If what you have to say isn't going to save everyone's life, then shut up.
Talking is like nailing the leader's eyes shut, because in the midst of inane and stupid chatter he will most likely miss the critical piece of information that IS going to save everyone's life.

Feel free to talk about anything at anytime, we don't want you to have no fun at all... but on raids and when the leader commands it, Absolute and Immediate silence must happen.

Shirija was proving a slightly disruptive influence within the clan, managing to piss off several people, but most of these conflicts have been resolved, and hopefully he will find ways to interact constructively with others. This however, is not his fault alone. Its ours. Maybe we should be somewhat easier on him? We don't know whats happening in his life outside Runescape. And as Lordship always says, "Everybody blows it". We all have times when we're going to lose our temper and lose control. The only way we can counter this is with forgiveness. That is the greatest lesson we have learned this month

The record number of hackings seen within this clan are fragmenting our trust somewhat. As a result of these, I strongly recommend that you put your trust in your skills rather in your flashy gear. A phat's all well and good, but it can be taken away, while exp cannot. Obviously if you have worked hard you should reward yourself, but if you spend all your money and borrow to achieve a goal such as ownership of a rare item, remember that it can go in a day.

It was just an hour ago that Gundam and Lazy Magey showed the ultimate act of manhood: Forgiveness. A fight had broken up over the forums, and had both of them not shown incredible maturity in forgiving each other for all the hurts, Gundam would no longer be a face in this clan. I thank them both for setting this great example.

Events - His Lordship

It is a battle we have fought hard to win, but it is a losing struggle. While we are gaining on the power side, with record numbers of 3 digit levels, our talking is also at a record high, alongside running off, and the worst of our foes, greed.

Yes, we have conquered clans such as ZFE and Afro, RO, KoDj, have we really gained from this month?

Is the price of success efficiency? I ask you that.

I beg you, as a humble servant of this clan, to control yourselves on our raids. Make them more enjoyable. I could spend hours talking about different rules, but what it really boils down to, is maturity. The excitement of the raid can sometimes make us forget where we are and what we are doing.

Kills are a bonus, mounted on the satisfaction of having saved innocent men from a horrible death.

Our frontiers outside the wilderness, I'm proud to say, are expanding vastly. With many non-monthly wilderness events, we've truly embraced the beauty of Runescape, the very thing we are trying to promote amoung others. In appreciate the joys that can be found outside the wilderness, we have sent a message to other players. Runescape isn't all about the PKing. Congratulations and I wish you the best in continuing to organise such wonderful events.

Changes and Ideas - Wildflame110

This month has seen the creation of our new s10 forums, and with this creation we move into yet another era of our clan's history. These forums, with the dutiful tending of Palidore and the other mods, should prove a clean and efficient way of keeping in touch, having fun and learning from each other.

Our clan website as always is running at maximum bandwidth, and this is good news, showing that we're getting the kind of publicity that we should be.

It will also be interesting to see how raids will change after His Lordship posted some changes to the way in which we raid, in particular, being unable to host raids without a moderator or council member.

Also, for the first time ever, the people of Wildguard have opened their banks and shared whatever they had with those members less fortunate than themselves. Funds are popping up faster than I can keep track. Be careful not to create too many. It may bring a sense of laziness to some people, knowing that the clan will re-emburse them.

I have not yet mentioned our two greatest changes.

The first one is our re-entry into our warring phase. WG has woken up from a 3 month sleep, and has fully thrust ourselves into three significant rune wars. The Synergy war, the Rune Outlaws War, and the KoD juniors war. And with two or three more on the waiting list, you can expect to see more action. Sharpen your weapons.

Last but certainly not least, is Terakaern's entry into the WG council. Terakaern has vowed to serve this clan for as long as he can. This is a huge commitment, and nobody doubts that he can handle it. We have elected a fine man into the upper ranks, and I anticipate a wonderful few months ahead with him beside me.

New Members and Advertising

I hang my head in shame. We have here, a clan that DI could envy in some regards, yet I fail to announce us to the wider Runescape community. I will persevere to do better this month. Runescape needs to know there is a clan like us. We are unique.

Contrary to this trend, new members are arriving in flocks, most to be stopped at our gates and turned away because they lack physical strength, something a leader like myself regrets, but must enforce for the well-being of our reputation and strength. I am glad to see many new faces, however, after only 1 post, we never see them again. Our inability to retain new members is somewhat distressing. Maybe more effort should be made to encourage new members to continue posting.

I am pleased to say the clan website is working at maximum monthly bandwidth, and this month, our site became so popular that we blew our bandwidth!

Member Happiness - Wildflame110

As touched upon before, Shirija in particular has been the source of a number of conflicts, but thankfully these are being / have been resolved in the majority, and I can say that we're pretty much looking forward to our glorious future. Very few people are leaving, and mostly for valid reasons, and the sheer number of new members and (regretfully) rejected applications tells us how popular we have become. For the second time I congratulate Shirija on his fine management of the situation.

A mention should be made of our vet, Flame Reece, who may be forced to leave as a result of his brother's twisted nature. If so, we will miss you, and would hope you hop onto the forums every now and again to chat.

The last week, especially, has seen several members display utter disgust in our raids, and this has become the top priority of the council to ensure that raids become more enjoyable. Havocangel, being the first member in many months, left out of disgust at raids, but returned, knowing that raids would improve, and we shall not let him down.

Keeping these things in mind, we can continue to stride forward to an awesome future as a clan and as friends.

Leadership and the Council - Palidore

The month of April shall be known as the month that the council went to lazy mode.. Everyone but lordy anyway. Thanks to all the members who have voted our new council member, Terakaern!

Any problems in the leadership? Well actually yes.
I have been thinking of stepping down as leader. Why you ask? Well they ONLY and I mean ONLY reason I have been in wildguard this long without quitting is because of the great community here. When I was a simple moderator, I had the most post. First to get lots of things. I used to always meet the new members, and get to know them personally, and whenever members had problems, they used to talk to me. Its different now. Im apparently loosing trust in members. Take the armor bank leader for example. I won BARELY. Before I was made leader, I always won those kind of things, and always was the person who members came too.
No offence at all to anthony..you earned those votes. You earned it fair and square by your good moderating and forum activeness. It reminds me of myself from only a few months ago..I miss it.
Te fact is, I liked it better when I was a simple mod. I literally knew every single of the one hundred and twenty-some members in the clan personally, and was on a friendly basis with all of them.
But when I was made leader, I lost more than I gained. You know how I'm always saying I'll be in wildguard forever? The only reason im lasting this long in the same place is because of the members. I loved being an important rank, yet still having all the members on my list, and being able to talk whenever I want to them. Because other leaders of clans: They try too hard. Everyone is pushed to their limits, and never have any chances to interact. Thats why whenever someone wants to talk, I encourage them to come to me. No matter if its just to say "W00t! I finished desert treasure!" Or "I have a problem with a clan member"

Whenever a new member talks to me the first time, they call me sir or something like that. I always correct them by saying im a friend, not a sir.

Thats the kind of clan leader I believe perfect. One who's able to be friends and a leader with their members. And I cant do it.

His Lordship speaks:
The whole council feels the same way. Palidore wanted to tell you this before he up his mind. Soon our beloved Terakaern will start feeling isolated. Please, embrace your council as friends. We won't look down on you. We're here to be your friends.

Diplomacy - His Lordship

As I have elucidated earlier, we have entered a war stage, where we shall once again spill the blood of hatred upon the soils of the Wilderness in the name of the innocent.

We shall review each war.

The Synergy War- A disaster of a war, but not the Synergy's fault. The enemy had us fooled in arriving late and causing general chaos. Wildguard was quick to respond to the disaster and maintained control throughout. Unfortunately this stunt caused our valued member Uglyshrek to leave the clan. This war only ended in disappointment for most of us

The Rune Outlaws War- One clan in purple, and three in red. The Rune Outlaws were accompanied by Afro and the Demonic Legends clan. It took 3 clans to take WG down. WG simply wins by default though we did kill most of RO. Another disappointment.

The Knights of Death Juniors- Third time lucky. A clan that does not cheat. The enemy was heavily outnumbered and we killed them with relative ease. However it was unfair. Of the two clans, they had more honour. They fought to the death and congratulated us on our victory. They proved themselves to be a great clan indeed.

On a different note, the Sleeping Dragons seems to be a new ally of WG. They are a clan originating from the Synergy and therefore have indirect ties with us. An alliance would be worthwhile and should go through shortly.

It is a shame, really, that we are still not organising allied events. I remind you that any member can arrange events, even with allies. FEAR has proven to be a superb ally, often raiding with us, and sharing non wilderness events with us.

Strength and Power - Terakaern

Well this month saw three wars, none of which were lost outright. In the first, the quite frankly massive war in which we assisted our allies against DL, there was mass confusion and no decisive outcome. This was no fault of our own. Our opponents turned up late, just about every clan in runescape was (without authorisation) invited and chaos ensued. On the most part we kept our cool well wandering round in such deep wilderness, though there were incidents in which clan members were wrongly killed. When we finally found the enemy, tactics went out the window. While a war can be a confusing place, try to maintain discipline, keep order and tactics. In the second war against the rune outlaws they cheated (surprise surprise). By all accounts though, we fought well and hard, and against all the odds we survived for quite some time. The final war was against KOD Juniors, a far more respectable clan and as expected we got a good, fair fight. No crashers, cape switchers or anything. We won comfortably in the end, with an attendance of around 50 people. At least 40 of those survived. If we get even bigger turnouts in future, we'll make a very powerful force. All the same, congratulations WG on a superb effort.

As far as raids are concerned, we are having greater success. I frequently here reports of a large number of good kills on both f2p and p2p raids. Attendances are good and member led “mini” raids are frequent. We must be careful not to burn ourselves out though – remember that official raids are the priority.

With the rise in requirements to 85 combat this month, we have inevitably grown in strength. Those who do not currently meet the requirements are being encouraged to train as quickly as possible. The increased average level is also attracting higher levelled new members, and our own more experienced members are also improving, with a number hitting the magic three figures.

On the subject of level 100, Wil1213 has begun an incentive scheme for those who reach the level. There are also prizes for reaching high range and mage levels. There is a link to this topic below.

Anti-PKing - Anincent
I’m a bit concerned about whether or not we are in the wilderness with Anti-PKing in mind. There are typically many people talking during the raids; which is a sign of not concentrating on what’s going on; which means they’re not thinking about Anti-PKing while in the wilderness.
The number of innocents dying has decreased, it seems. A few players without skulls have been brutally murdered by the Wilderness Guardians! But that’s because they said they were PKers, so it’s all good ^^ It’s just that sometimes it’s a bit difficult to determine whether a non-skulled person is actually a PKer or an innocent. We may need to determine a plan of action to deal with these situations because the current system (of asking “Are you PKing?” or something) doesn’t seem to be working very well.

Clan Production - Anincent
Now that we’ve got these forums fully up and running, the WG High Scores are up to date. These forums make it possible for all moderators (instead of just the council members) to update the high scores. This means that they’ll almost always be current and ready for your viewing.
Self-sufficiency is not a great problem within our clan. Recently (well… within this month), Wildflame110 has achieved level 80 Crafting. (Congrats 😉 ) So s/he is now able to provide the service of Dragon Amulet-making 😁
As it has been written for the last 2 Clan Reports… .w.e. .n.e.e.d. .m.o.r.e. .s.m.i.t.h.i.n.g.?. 🙂 I mainly gathered this from the high scores. I acknowledge that smithing is rather a hard skill to raise, and that the level required to be on the high scores is high too. So that’s why I decided that we need more MAGIC. The reason for this is because the clans with lots of mages in the wilderness seem to do quite well for themselves.

Forum Cleanliness - His Lordship

We've now got a fresh slate to write on, with these wonderful s10 forums, virtually immune to hacking. One thing that I need to do is transfer all the wonderful smilies over. That shall be happening this month.

I believe we have fully adjusted to these new forums, and already, I'm starting to feel like I've been writing in this place since the start of WG.

Moderators can now Moderate ALL forums, regardless of who they are. This ensures that our forums will be cleaner than ever, and more user friendly.
I graciously thank all the moderators for their hard work.

I've been pleasantly surprised at the lack of profane words on these forums. I've not added a single word to the filter, and I don't see the need to. I realise now, that this clan is more mature than I thought.

Other Details - Anincent
Any big donations this month? YES, from Peacefulcalm! I was shocked already at the 1000K Gold Pieces and rune ores/ bars. But then he sprung up with 25K Fire Runes, 250 Kwuarms, 50 Super Attack Potions, 50 Super Strength Potions and 50 Super Defence Potions! We’d like to thank you once again, Peacefulcalm 🙂
Not to mention Havocangel and the many other members who have started funds. I am really impressed by the output and generosity of people in this clan.
Terkaern! Congratulations on your promotion to Clan Council! I look forward to working with you, and hope that you enjoy this new position.

There has been an alarming rise in the number of hackings going on lately. Diggy posted this guide a while back, and I’d encourage all members to take note of what is said there. Do all you can to be secure.

Will’s aforementioned incentive scheme for raising combat skills can be found here, well worth a look if you plan on training hard over the coming weeks and months.

Also worth a look are the stats week topics run by Eechye 124. These will be pinned in the clan events forum – check it out and race each other in various skills, which will obviously change weekly.

Rating - His Lordship

This month, 74/100
Not a bad rating, if I may say so myself, but it means we are only putting in three quarters of what we can possibly put in. I'm talking about new members contributing to this clan, better raids, less fighting, more community work. But don't let that make you think you haven't done well

The Comparison rating: 32

That's right. I argue we are in the top 32 clans in Runescape. Deluxo DJ, ex-WG member, provided me with a list of the top 50 clans, based on strength, judged by experts. He put us, at the time, at number 37. Since then we've grown a lot, and I can confidently say I'd put us higher on that list.

Don't forget thats a measure of strength. Try and rate our friendliness, activeness, creativity, and respect. For many of those, we'd be number 1, no doubt.
