Well, it is about time I finished compiling this report, over a month late.
WG in July is very vague to me. The months have been rushing past, and these reports serve as the only record we have. Some outstanding things come to mind. Of course, the war against DOA, which was halted with FoM's appearance. This shows, certainly, that WG is ready to enter the top 20 list. July will always be a landmark in WG's history because of that war, our very first p2p war, one in which we showed exactly how powerful we are. Following the DOA war came our war-free period, which we want to last for a few months. This time, we shall spend rebuilding the clan, solidifying the structure, making sure the members are happy, fixing events, listening to suggestions. This is absolutely vital to our growth. Many members disagree, but I believe that this is in their best interests. You'll note soon as you read this report that there will be a fairly negative tone from the council. Let me say that we only speak of the problems as this is our job. It is our function to make the clan improve and we don't do that by dwelling on our strengths. Of course the friendliness is higher than ever before, and we are more powerful, and we have come closer to our allies, but we don't state it as often as we would like.
So, let July be known as the month in which WG stepped down and began the healing process. It was the last month of our epic battles against the defining clans of our time.
2. Maturity- Jesusislord6
Apparently the level of talking on raids has not improved. Almost every thread in the events forum covering a raid seemed to be gloomy. Talking on raids was causing many members to say they will never again go on raids, or quit the clan all together. This is obviously an issue and the council has been trying to control it, though unfortunately so far it has not worked extraordinarily well.
The number of inappropriate posts also stayed the same, with the appearance of a very long thread about sleep deprivation which turned quickly to a talk about highly inappropriate subjects, completely unworthy of sitting on the forums. Luckily, DarkByNight finally came in and put and end to it. That thread is an example of how immature the clan got at some points. Luckily, after that and an explanation from some of our leadership, everything changed and there were no more of that kind of thread on the forums.
There were quite a few arguments in July, ranging from Sir Jereth to other members. These situations were resolved relatively quickly, but it gave the realization that we still have a ways to go in the realm of maturity.
The clan has been doing well with doing what the leadership says, stopping the immature posts and cutting down on curses and stereotypical comments. This provides a jump in maturity and hopefully a jump in morale to go with it.
3. Events- His Lordship
As mentioned in the topic above this, raids are the main contributing factor to our problems at present. They are indeed successful, but not as successful as they could be. The raids are held four times weekly and have a decent attendance, but there is still inappropriate levels of talking, as there always have been, and innocent slaughter. This is due to the high inflow of new members, who almost outnumber the older members. Nevertheless, raids are on the whole, enjoyable.
It is pleasing to see that now there are more people who are inclined to create their own events that don't involve raids. Steel wars, parties, socials, fire-fests, and a large myriad of events that put the calendar of all other clans to shame. And the good news is, we have the clan population to support such events. Each one gets a decent turnout. I'm also glad to see that most of these events commence on time and we don't have to wait for people who are late. In fact, very few people are late nowadays. That is a good habit indeed. The photo archive is a testament to this.
Thank you also, for writing up recaps on each event, discussing things that were good and bad, and contributing to ways in which future events can be better.
4. Changes and Ideas- Jesusislord6The past month has brought quite a few changes to the clan. The clan website was finally restored after quite a few weeks of being without it. Applications started up again and an inflow of newer members began again. His Lordship began to work on the Hall of Fame on the Wilderness Guardians website, though it has since not been finished.
The photo album on the website was restored soon after the website transfer was complete, which is key in recruitment. New members, of course, still started arriving.
The big thing we all remember, His Lordship announced that he planned to be scarce around the clan for four months to help him work on his studies without distraction. It was a decision we all respect, and he is here a surprising amount, though in his absence the rest of the council has been handling things superbly.
A new forum was created, the “House of Random” which houses party threads and general spam. It has been used in excess, but it has done it’s job, severely reducing spam on other parts of the forum, and containing it to where post counts are not raised by pointless posts.
As I am new to the council (I was elected yesterday) I am not entirely sure many of the plans for the future. I know we hope to increase maturity and morale, because that’s what the clan is built on. When the people are unhappy the clan is unhappy, so personally I am thinking up ways to get morale up and make it a friendlier place.
All of our recent ideas have been successful, the new forum, being a big one, along with our new forums moderators. The popularity of Wild Guard Videos was booming and bringing popularity to the clan. All of the recent ideas by the members and the council have been successful.
5. New Members and Recruitment- His LordshipNow here's a lesson we all have learned. At the beginning of this month, following the war with The Unbreakables, we let in a huge amount of members. 50 in 1 week a believe and 30 in the next. Well, only 30 of those 80 remained active, but they were enough to disrupt the status quo. They knew little of our traditions, and demanded attention. Not that this was bad. New members deserve attention. I think, if not for our mentorship program, these new members would have caused more trouble, making the clan more unstable than ever. We have tried our best since to make sure new recruits are worthy of entry, by only taking in those who display a high degree of maturity. The new members had no sense of WG's tradition, so they came in, unintentionally changing the atmosphere for the worse. We lost our heritage somewhat. Well, let us hope that history does not repeat itself.
Recruitment is almost non-existent, except for our enrolment in Runescape Topsites. Geohood has done a good job in keeping our topic in RSC going. Apart from that we have relied on word of mouth. We finally got our website back too, after a month of it being down. We had to change our host, due to unanticipated popularity, and the situation became rather complex. The blowing of our bandwidth is good, since it shows that WG's site remains popular, but since we lost the site, we could not recruit for a month. This definitely impeded upon our progress. Well, the good news is, that since the site returned, bandwidth has not been a problem. We hav enough bandwidth to swim in now, so feel free to look around.
6. Member Happiness- Jesusislord6Unfortunately morale has been relatively low. There have been quite a few fights between members, people posting threads that directly insult others, and a general air of dislike. This needs to change, obviously, and hopefully in the upcoming month things will return to normal.
Because morale is low we’ve had a few people leave, but it is not near the number that could if things get worse. Right now things aren’t that bad, but they can definitely improve. I congratulate you all for staying with the clan through the good times and the bad. People are generally leaving because they are either : New, and don’t like anti-pking, or old, and are sick of the immaturity and disregard for the rules. Luckily most of the members who have left are new and have not left much of a hole in the clan when they left, as most of us barely knew they were here.
I think we are all pretty satisfied with the clan. We have many members, and 95% of the time we all get along. But unfortunately arguments do arise and things do go sour. Luckily, most problems have been resolved and others are in the works of being resolved. There are some things that need to be done, some members who need to be spoken to, but a lot of the problems we’ve had are going away, and that is satisfying.
We unfortunately have a number of members who are at each other’s throats. These members have either offended each other unintentionally or generally just don’t like each other. These rifts in the clan have been causing problems for a long time, and even situations that have long been underlying have come to the surface. Luckily though, many people have resolved their problems, but there are still a few problems. Hopefully, with the help of the clan, these can be resolved soon.
7. Leadership and the Council- PalidoreWell, as most most have clearly agreed, the council hasn't been working incredibly hard. And we agree, we have already been discussing things, sharing ideas, and brainstorming on what to improve in the council forums. You can get a good look in the to do list, a few paragraphs down the page. So sorry for not putting in enough effort, and initiative as we should be, I know we can improve.
There hasn't been any significant problems for the most part, except for the council activity, which were improving.
To do list --Recruit members for the Descendant Guardians (Please visit the Rune village post in clan talk forum, and show your support!
-Get another council member (Already in the process)
For the council:
-Assign jobs to leadership (One for issues, one for promotions, etc)
-Improve activity
-Becoming stricter when it comes to member applications, to get only dedicated members, rather than immature, rude ones.
-Maintain the war free period
-Do an inactivity sweep
-And continue listening to member ideas and complaints
We have promoted most of the deserving members who applied, sorry if we missed you though 😛
Mainly Terakaern and Lordy have been doing, although I did a few.
Well, the only war we had as you guys know, was us vs. DOA. We believed to have won the war, if FoM hadn't crashed, but that's alright, its over now. Since then, DOA and WG have been on relatively good terms.
There is also some sort of fun mini war going on between WG and DG, but I don't know any details, you'll have to ask ph43rm41337 😛
Besides that though, for the next 4 or so months, Wildguard will officially be on a no war period.
The Scorpions need your help! Please read this if you haven't already:
Link to Scorpions topic only available to clan members [broken link/no archive]
We haven't gotten any new allies in Wildguard really. We've naturally gotten a few applications, none which were really accepted though.
Since the DOA war, FoM can probably be considered enemies in a way.. But just don't bother to much with them. Although what they did was wrong, I have heard some have been spamming their forums, all I can say is just please don't. Enemies or not, you guys know how stressful it is to have people spamming our forums.
9. Strength and Power- TerakaernWG continued to grow through July, building up towards our first p2p war with DOA. However, the site went down for some time towards the end of the month, stopping our flow of members. Fortunately our dedicated members continued to train hard and pool resources for the war, discussed in next months report.
Raids have been a sticky issue lately. Some go amazingly well, some go poorly. A member recently told me, f2p raids always go brilliantly to start, we wipe out everyone. Inevitably we come across a big clan and either die or wipe them out too. But every now and then we have more controllable incidents - attacking innocents or our own members. Remember this - do NOT attack non-skullers, except on a specific command from the raid leader (even then only if they believe the person to be an RPKer, and have reasonable grounds for it). If someone binds a non-skuller, this is to ascertain if they are an Rpker, don't all bundle in and kill them regardless. If one of our own members is killed, return their items. If they don't get them back, and it can't be decided who made the kill, then the whole raid attendees will be responsible for compensating the dead clan mate.
10. AntiPKing- JezzamonOk first things first I have still been seeing people RPKing outside of WG. These are only a minor few and have been spoken to by moi. During the raid I have lead there has been a little (There was none at last Aussie raid the raid went off with out a hitch) of attacking non skulled players, I have realized it is always going to be a problem with the new members coming in and forgetting completely what a-pking is. Also some members are playing the monkey see monkey do game, were if someone binds or hits a non-skulled the whole of the clan attacks too. The only way of solving these problems is for people to learn not to do this by just telling them every time not to do it, they will learn in due time it's just practice and patience. The last raid I lead there was no innocent lives taken but on other raids I can report up to 2-3 innocents only due to new, monkey thing or guest . I believe we are really in deep ground here with big clans taking us down without a lose. Levels need to be worked on and we need to enforce if your under 90 then you really need to get it up no matter what. We have wiped clans from worlds millions of times we only need to work on calling and more effective ways to take people down.
11. Clan Production- JezzamonI believe as our clan is growing, the higher the combat the less demand for peoples skills. There is still the odd make me some black hides, glories but that is getting less and less frequent. Our clan skills are greatly above average and I believe we will be able to sustain this. So I guess the higher the combat req. the less demand for skills . The only skill I'm really concerned on is herblore and crafting as one of the hardest skills to raise this does make for such demand. Also the clan high scores topic needs an update. In place I think we have 1 herblore apprentice. The clan production is running very smoothly if there's any concerns or other ideas about it please pm me ASAP. Danny's rune market place has been deleted due to recent events. Market having no problems please tell me if you disagree or any ideas.
12. Forum Cleanliness- PalidoreHappy to say, there really hasn't been that much spamming with the newer members, thanks to Lordy for making the application process stricter, and thanks to the older members for keeping it clean. The only real spamming problems we have, are with some guest, such as Arathel, Lilzack, who love changing their IP's, and feeling they have to spam, and also the Runescape Terrorist Association, who came and spammed our old forums. Luckily they didn't know that we switched forums, so not too many people saw it, but they have been taken care of nevertheless.
Even though I am happy with the low level of spamming, what I'm not to enthusiastic about is the flaming. Please, if you have a problem with someone, doesn't matter what rank they are, or how well liked they are, report them to a council member. Whatever you do, please, do not make these flame wars in a public forum. Its already causing people to leave because of it. So please, no flaming each other, and if you can help it, try not to flame the guest. I have already been deleting and closing flame/flame bait post, but I cant do it alone, so please. if you want to help, mods close these post too, and members, don't start them.
Well, congratulations once again guys! You seem to do it every month! Once again, we all managed to beat the old record of 82 I think it was, most active users on the forums, making it to 87 on the war day! Grats guys, we'll see if we can do it again! 🙂
Well, we have about 300 members registered on these forums, and out of them, its guessed that approximately 150-200 of them are active. Like I said, soon we will be cleaning the forums once more, taking inactive members off the list again. So if you guys know someone who is on Runescape a lot, but not active on the forums or events, let them know to get more active!
There hasn't been anymore moderator actions then the usual moving and locking every day. Not much to write here, but I do want to note, congrats to Anthonysc (I think) who made the most moderation actions out of anyone (364!) Hopefully none of them were abuse lol, but I'm sure its not, good to see your active anyway 🙂
14. Other Details- JezzamonOk our death list on the front page needs to be updated! I suggest remove it as it is doing us no good. Also this putting bounty of peoples heads is also causing a lot of flaming to erupt there has been instances were people have a bounty but there in the clan. Also people putting bounties because they got killed in the wilderness, IF YOU GO INTO THE WILDERNESS IT'S A RISK YOU TAKE THE RISK. Also I don't think there has been many successful bounties it's just pure luck if you see them in the wild and kill them.
Well during my time I have seen a variety of medals such as member of the month etc. But I still don't see them being giving out so often such as the high donator or Raid leader medal. There could be more introduced or give some out a little bit more often. There is only one down side if so and so gets loads of medals, if so and so did something better that the other person. These are all issues that must be looked at while giving out medals. (also adds morale) Give someone to be the medal Distributor and everyone month I will make a poll in the level 3 forum to find out who gets what medal. This needs to be agreed on first. EDIT: WERE ARE THE MEDALS GONE? GET THEM BACK IN PL()Z
Clan bank I have no clue what is going on with it as far as I can remember it has gotten a big boost from Dan and I don't know who has the pass for it at the moment. I will need to find out a little bit more on it.
Promotions has been hard this week there has been some cases where as people are applying really soon and some others arguing that they have been in longer and they didn't get it. But it really doesn't matter. Also people wondering why someone hasn't looked at their posts yet and being a little impatient. Other immature members some wanting promotions have been told to wait and see if they can learn to grow up a little. I my self have not received any more mentees and wondering if anyone else has some new members applying for member position in promotions. Please remind mentors to take a close eye on mentees and talk to them as much as possible they have taken on this heavy burden.
Ss chat is getting better less flaming and ranting but still some of it around. I see people abusing or mucking around with mod powers occasionally. There has been some kicking from half mods but no really bad flaming still the little flaming is what we need to work on as it does sometimes arise in big disputes.
15. Ratings- TerakaernCouncil Rating - June we did well. We had a lot of work preparing for the war and managed to set up a nice secure forum. We organized a plan and tried to give as much info as possible. Still undermanned though and some inactivity. 5/10.
Comparison rating. Ranking remains in the 20s following TU, building for our fight against DOA.
