Vio is a RuneScape player and member of the Wilderness Guardians from 2009 to 2014, 2016 to 2020, and 2025 onward. He served as Historian of WG from 2010 to 2011, Leader of Descendant Guardians from 2011 to 2013, and Warlord and Second in Command of WG in 2013. Vio is also a video-maker in the RuneScape community with around 5,000 YouTube subscribers - he collaborated with His Lordship on a number of occasions and produced several popular RuneScape videos such as The Wilderness - An Unauthorised Biography. Vio resigned from WG to join Deathrow in 2020, but returned to WG in 2025.

Early History

Vio was introduced to RuneScape in the summer of 2003 by a childhood friend, and made the account Kecooler at the age of 10. He took a relatively early interest in clans, and in 2006 befriended the Abyssal Guardians (AG) who introduced him to F2P PvP. However he did not meet AG's requirements for membership, and instead spent much of the summer of 2006 in smaller clans which included Black Fire Knights, Leigion[sic] of Chaos, and TuneScape. Vio considered his first "real" clan to be the Red Blade Hunters (RBH), which he joined on 29 October 2006 and spent several months with, as well as starting his reputation of a video-maker - recording RBH's events with Hypercam 2 and editing them with Windows Movie Maker.[1]

In 2007 Vio ventured further into the F2P clan world - after the closure of AG in early 2007, he resigned from RBH to take over an attempted AG reformation known as Moratorium (Mora). Mora lasted around 6 months with moderate success, and was Vio's first genuine experience with clan leadership. After Mora he joined several other clans during 2007, namely Unknown Bounty Hunters, Charmed & Dangerous, Avenged, and receiving the "Ending Member" rank for the Cutthroat Syndicate for time spent with them. He attempted to revive Mora near the end of the year, but following the removal of Wilderness PvP and free trade on 10 December 2007 , he instead rejoined RBH - remaining with them through 2008, and ascending to the ranks of Event Organiser and High Council. However an internal dispute cut his term as HC short, and he stepped down and resigned from RBH in early 2009.[1]

Vio joined The Sabres (TS) in early 2009 after researching them and finding he met the requirements of the oldest RuneScape clan. As with previous clans he produced videos of their events, as well as starting a Sabre-named account (Sabre Keanu) as TS required members create Sabre-named accounts prior to the ability to change an account's display name. However he made little progress with this account as he was also training a third account to join WG at the same time - and he also had an aversion to TS's frequent wars in the Clan Wars arena rather than PvP worlds. Ultimately he chose to leave TS in mid 2009 to focus on training for WG, but would go on to attend two of TS's real life meetings in 2010.[1]

WG History

Vio had been aware of WG since around 2006 (due to the popularity of The TeamSpeak Rant and the London 2008 real life meeting video, amongst other things) - and in March 2009 Vio introduced himself and expressed his intention of joining WG.[2] However he chose not to apply for WG with his original account "Kecooler", as on three separate occasions he had attempted to train the account to meet a clan's requirements, only for the clan to close before he achieved them. Instead, he chose to create a new account (WG Keanu) and train it up from scratch, in a similar fashion to TS.[3]

2009 - 2011

Vio reached WG's requirements of level 100 combat on 16 October 2009, and was accepted into WG by His Lordship a day later.[4] His early days with WG were somewhat problematic - he had shown an unusually keen interest in WG for several months before applying, which some members considered obsessive behaviour.[5] As a member he also had an initial aversion to WG's focus on P2P PvP, given his history of entirely F2P clans.[6] Nonetheless he graduated to a full member in November[7] and continued to produce videos of WG's PK trips and PKRIs as he had done for previous clans - now using Camtasia and Fraps to record, and Sony Vegas to edit. He also took an interest in the historical aspects of WG - His Lordship provided him with Wildflame110's raw footage from WG's first war, which Vio edited into a presentable video on 2 November 2009. This was the first time footage of WG's first war (and the oldest footage of the clan in existence, having been recorded in 2004) was made public, and His Lordship was pleased with his efforts.[8]

Vio attended both The Great War and The Battle of Turning Tides in 2010 - producing a plaque in Photoshop for the former, and a heavily-edited but well-received video for the latter. He continued to work on preserving WG's historical aspects - most notably with the creation of the first version of WG's wiki. This was released to the public on 7 July 2010 and appraised by His Lordship and the rest of the clan.[9] Vio also purchased a WG t-shirt and attended RuneFest 2010 - his third real life meeting (after 2 with The Sabres) and first with WG. At the meeting, His Lordship offered Vio a unique clan rank as a bribe for getting a haircut - which Vio accepted, leading to the creation of the Historian rank.[10] Vio also received the two most prestigious GuardianScore awards - Outstanding Donor and Outstanding Contribution.

Despite his efforts on the historical aspects of WG, Vio was the cause of multiple problems and issues as a member of the clan - largely as a result of his immaturity as a teenager.[11] In January 2011 he received a suspension from the clan, and after posting and rescinding his resignation, he came to an agreement with the staff to leave the clan temporarily.[12] During his absence he founded and led The Blade Keepers (TBK), and despite them becoming an exodus and ending up in a rivalry with WG, he maintained his friendship with His Lordship and even attended the London and Cambridge 2011 real life meeting while leading TBK. After TBK's closure he briefly joined Ascension, before His Lordship invited him to return to WG on 23 May 2011.[13] He was immediately returned to the rank of Historian, though this caused some debate within the clan due to the hostilities between WG and TBK[14], though the issues gradually dissipated over time.

DG (2011 - 2013)

Main article: Descendant Guardians#DG3

During The Reckoning on 20 June 2011, Vio was given leadership of WG's newly-reopened junior clan Descendant Guardians (DG), and changed his display name to DG Keanu. He led DG for nearly 2 years in his most successful term as a clan leader, with DG rising to become an established and respected clan in their own right throughout 2011 and 2012.

Notably during his time as DG Leader, Vio attended in-game clan leader meetings with His Lordship where they discussed clan-related issues with Jagex. This included the decline of PvP in RuneScape even after the 2011 updates which returned Wilderness PvP and free trade, and ultimately led to the production of The Wilderness - An Unauthorised Biography in 2012. He also attended two further real life meetings - RuneFest 2011 (for which Vio designed the clan Pens, and during the event Vio and His Lordship discussed clan PvP issues with Jagex moderators in person), and Edale in 2012.

On 2 August 2012, WG and DG combined their leadership, resulting in Vio becoming an Advisor and the Second-in-Command of WG.[15] This stunted DG's progress somewhat as Vio began focusing his efforts on WG matters - though the junior clan remained fairly stable until early 2013 when it was phased out with the release of Old School RuneScape.

2013 - 2014

Vio after getting a haircut from His Lordship at the York real life meeting, 19 April 2013

Vio moved to OSRS upon its release, and despite being an Advisor applied for a Warlord (at the time "Raidmaster") position on 17 March 2013.[16] He retained his Advisor rank but would serve as the Head Warlord (at the time "Warlord"), and led WG through many of their early OSRS battles including their first OSRS war (WG vs Poison) and a run-in with Reign of Terror.[17] He also attended the York real life meeting in April (where His Lordship himself gave Vio a haircut, as had become tradition), and helped produce WG's 2013 recruitment video in July. WG's progress with OSRS PvP began to slow as 2013 progressed and Vio became more focused on forum and technical work, and so switched to the rank of Forum Tech on 23 August.[18] However, Vio considered WG's community to have developed serious issues with trolling and immaturity, leading him to resign on 28 November 2013, requesting Ex-Member (as opposed to Emeritus, a rank for retired staff). He considered starting a community clan Epsilon and produced forums and graphics for it, but the clan ultimately did not open.[19]

After spending the winter of 2013 away from RuneScape, Vio attended the 2013 Anniversary in January 2014[20] and attempted to mend ties with the clan afterward. He re-applied on 27 February 2014, but chose to apply by posting a piece of original poetry rather than filling out the application form which he himself had previously created - nonetheless he was accepted as an Emeritus.[21] Despite the previous issues with immaturity remaining unresolved in his opinion[22], he continued to attend events and resumed work as Forum Tech in July - notably developing the 2014 website as a replacement for the long-outdated Flash website.[23] However his interest in RuneScape began to diminish, and he had fallen into inactivity by October.[24] After a forum post admitting previous wrongdoings, he was given the rank of Emeritus a second time on 19 October 2014.[25]

2016 - 2020

Vio (left) and His Lordship at the premiere of the RuneScape documentary, 11 February 2016

Vio spent 2015 mostly away from the game and WG, apart from briefly rejoining RBH from February to April.[17] After an 8-month break from RuneScape, he rejoined WG for the 4th time on 7 January 2016.[26] He graduated to Guardian on 2 February[27], and on 11 February 2016 Vio and His Lordship were invited to attend a VIP premiere of RuneScape's 15-year documentary. Vio's activity in WG progressively returned over the course of 2016 - despite occasionally struggling as his in-game stats fell behind the requirement of the clan[28] he attended events regularly and trialed the live-streaming of PK trips on Twitch - a clip of him nearly losing an Armadyl Godsword to Reign of Terror (RoT) was featured on the community channel SparcMacLIVE. Towards the end of the year he also returned to producing edited videos of WG's events[29], and also began production of a documentary for RoT which would be released on 1 March the following year. However his activity began to diminish once again - this time as a result of starting a real life job in Germany, where his ability to play RuneScape was limited. He eventually fell below WG's requirements when they were increased to include level 85+ magic in December of 2016.[30]

By February of 2017 Vio had been largely focused on the RoT documentary, and had not yet reached the 85+ magic requirement - as a result he was removed from WG. He subsequently rejoined RBH but found that they had become largely inactive, and instead introed for Divine Forces (DF). He attended a few events with DF, but did not complete the application process as he briefly stopped playing RuneScape to focus on another game (Minecraft) for a few months. WG removed their requirements in May of 2017[31] and Vio re-applied on 11 July, and was accepted on 14 July.[32] He was only partially active as he was still occasionally working abroad, but nearing the end of the year his activity (as well as WG's general PvP activity) improved with the introduction of the Revenant Caves in November.

Throughout 2018 Vio returned to consistent activity - attending PK trips and wars frequently, and serving as a backup caller due to his extensive experience with leading WG in PvP. He resumed production of videos for these events and developed their style - often including additional commentary or WG's TeamSpeak audio.[33] In June he created a new clan YouTube channel for WG, re-uploading the vast majority of videos from throughout the clan's history.[34] In late 2018 WG began holding mace trips, which Vio found largely enjoyable[35] - and he would often share screenshots of the loot with RuneScape community groups on social media such as Facebook, which resulted in a brief spark of interest towards WG. For WG's 2018 Anniversary, Vio and His Lordship produced a video which recounted the 15-year history of WG.

In early 2019 Vio was invited to join Cutthroat (CT), and after a brief dispute as to whether he could be in both WG and CT, he resigned from WG on 3 February.[36] As CT was one of the top clans at the time, Vio developed his PvP skills in both single and multi significantly with CT, as well as achieving max combat (level 126) for the first time. However he was removed from CT on 27 June 2019, reapplied for WG the next day, and was accepted on 30 June.[37] He had graduated within a few days[38] and intended on putting his newfound skills to use by way of the Master Guardians programme - however leader Mojo disapproved of much of his intentions, and the Nothing Left (NL) exodus on 6 July resulted in a large portion of WG's strongest PvP members being banned - both of which resulted in the MG programme being neglected. During the rivalry with NL, Vio mainly focused on gathering intelligence with Mojo and posting anti-NL propaganda on Twitter (X).[39] However WG was largely unable to contend with NL in PvP, and eventually made the decision to "ignore" them - after which Vio resumed general clan duties and the production of event videos.[40]

By January of 2020 Vio's interest in RuneScape had diminished once again, and he requested the Emeritus rank on 11 January. However he soon became aware of the clan Deathrow (DR) - a clan comprised largely of ex-CT and some ex-WG who had a rivalry of their own with NL. Vio was given an offer to join DR, and after conferring with Mojo he resigned from WG on 15 May 2020, with the intention of joining DR solely to hunt NL and forcing them to close.[41] He maintained some ties with WG while in DR, and produced the 2020 series of podcasts Across the Ditch with His Lordship.

2025 - Present

Vio, having obtained the display name "WildGuard" for his account "WG Keanu", reapplied and was accepted into WG on 17 May 2025, and given the recreated role of Historian.[42]

Other Clans

Since 2009 Vio has spent the vast majority of his RuneScape career with WG, though on occasions he has resigned or been removed and joined other clans: notably The Blade Keepers, Ascension, Red Blade Hunters, Cutthroat, and Deathrow. Vio also made efforts to join Solace, Divine Forces, and Tempest - but ultimately did not become a member of them.

The Blade Keepers

1 February - 4 May 2011

Shortly after Vio had temporarily resigned from WG in early 2011, Wilderness PvP and free trade were re-added to RuneScape and Vio took the opportunity to found the clan The Blade Keepers (TBK) in February. This became an exodus of WG as multiple former WG members joined TBK, and a short rivalry between the clans occurred. Nonetheless Vio maintained his friendship with His Lordship, and even attended WG's London and Cambridge 2011 real life meeting while leading TBK. In March, multiple internal issues caused two exodi to form and take the majority of staff and clan members from TBK. Vio was unable to recover the clan and closed TBK in May, referring the remaining members on to Exalt.

Ascension

May 2011

After the closure of TBK, Vio first attempted to join Solace, but ultimately joined Ascension (Asc) instead. While in Asc he attended his longest consecutive fight in his personal clan history - against Envy, which lasted 4 hours. He also produced a handful of videos for Asc.[43] However after only 2 weeks of being in Asc, he was given an invitation from His Lordship to rejoin WG. Vio immediately accepted the offer and resigned from Asc on or around 23 May 2011.[1]

Red Blade Hunters

Main article: Red Blade Hunters
~April 2010, February - 9 April 2015, ~February 2017

Vio considered the Red Blade Hunters (RBH) to have been his first "real" clan, and had multiple relations with them over the years. Prior to first joining WG in 2009 he had joined RBH on 3 separate occasions, and from 2010 onward he rejoined RBH once as a spy and twice as a genuine member.

In April 2010 a war between WG and RBH was held at Vio's recommendation, but the fight ended badly due to RBH wearing cheap gear and breaking the boundaries. Vio felt responsible for the failure of the event, and offered to join RBH on a spare account to spy on them. Despite this being a violation of WG's Honour code, the staff agreed - and WG multiple spy hits on RBH using intelligence provided by Vio. He was eventually caught by the RBH staff, but both he and WG staff denied his actions and, stated Vio had simply wished to rejoin RBH. The RBH staff believed him, and no consequences were suffered. Vio publicly admitted to the spying in 2014.[44]

After leaving WG in October 2014, Vio legitimately rejoined RBH in February 2015 which had recently reopened after a 3-year period of closure. He was active in RBH for around 3 months and considered it an enjoyable and nostalgic experience - in particular, interacting and attending PK trips with clanmates from a decade earlier. However his diminished interest in RuneScape led to him resigning from RBH on 9 April 2015, and beginning an 8-month hiatus from the game.[17]

Vio was largely inactive during the Justice Alliance where WG and RBH were allies. After being removed from WG in February 2017 for not meeting their increased requirements, Vio briefly rejoined RBH - however the clan had entered a period of inactivity and were considered a "community clan" by Vio. As such, he did not have any significant experiences with them and chose to focus instead on applying to Divine Forces. When he rejoined WG in July, he mentioned that he was still a "semi-active" member of RBH at the time.[45] His relationship with RBH is considered to have ended at this point, and RBH fell into near complete inactivity around 2021 based on their Discord activity.

Cutthroat

3 February - 27 June 2019

In early 2019, Vio was invited to join Cutthroat (CT). CT was one of the strongest clans in OSRS and several other WG members had recently resigned from WG to join. Vio saw this as an opportunity to develop his PvP skill set with a top clan, and in January discussed the prospect of joining CT while remaining in WG with Mojo. Mojo initially agreed and Vio introed to CT on 31 January, but after concerns raised by other staff, Mojo insisted that Vio leave WG prior to joining CT. Vio resigned from WG on 3 February 2019, and was accepted into CT on the same day.[46]

Vio initially struggled somewhat with being in a top clan and received some early warnings, but nonetheless made an effort to learn and develop his skills - these included using a specialised version of the RuneLite client developed for PvP clans, learning how to hybrid in single combat fights, and sub-1 minute return times. His early days in CT were considerably enjoyable - due to CT having an alliance with Reign of Terror, he was given access to the Revenant Caves in the restricted 2000 skill total level worlds where RoT offered protection for PvMers. He also took part in a PvP/Factions-based Minecraft server hosted by CT in March, which he considered a highlight of his time in the clan. Vio achieved max combat (99 in all melee stats) and level 99 range, and completed the trial stage and became a full member of CT on 16 April 2019.

In June 2019 Vio began discussing the Master Guardians programme with Mojo to be established upon his return. Around the same time, the 2019 Deadman Mode Summer Finals began, in which CT members were required to support RoT by farming resources. Vio initially took part in this, but at the same time began playing Minecraft with some members from past clans (notably Unknown Bounty Hunters and Divine Forces, the latter of which was a rival of CT). The CT leadership deemed this unacceptable and Vio was removed from Cutthroat on 27 June 2019, and he reapplied to join WG shortly afterward.[47]

Despite his reputation as a video-maker, Vio did not produce any videos for CT as a member due to his inexperience with top-tier PvP clans - a decision which he regretted.[48] In 2022 he edited his only surviving footage from CT into a video of the first war he had attended with them, against Wild Might on 4 February 2019.

Deathrow

Vio with a Deathrow facemask, 1 August 2020
18 May 2020 - 11 April 2025

After the closure of CT in 2019, former CT member Nullusion founded Deathrow (DR) in April 2020. A large number of former CT and some former WG joined DR, and they began a rivalry of their own with Nothing Left (NL) - the exodus which had broken away from WG the previous year. Vio received an invitation to DR, and after conferring with Mojo he resigned from WG on 15 May, with the intention of joining DR solely to hunt NL and forcing them to close. He was accepted into DR on 18 May.

Vio immediately began the process of hunting NL with DR, and took part in numerous successful spy hits over the course of 2020. He also produced a few videos of DR's events, which were well received by the clan.[49] On 15 July 2020 NL merged Playdead (PD), ending their status as an independent clan after around 1 year of activity.[50] At this point Vio's mission was complete, and he was initially invited to the development of Tempest (a clan being founded by True 2k8, a fellow clanmate of Vio's from his days with Divine Forces and Unknown Bounty Hunters). Ultimately Vio chose to remain in DR to continue hunting PD, though he also continued to work on WG's wiki, created Member of the Month forum signatures at Mojo's request, and produced the Across the Ditch podcast with His Lordship through 2020.

Vio remained with Deathrow for around 5 years in total. They continued to hunt PD until PD ceased activity in mid-2022[51], however Vio still remained with DR as he found it to be the perfect balance between WG and CT: having overall higher-quality PvP than WG, but less intensive and demanding than CT. Despite occasional breaks from RuneScape to focus on Minecraft, he remained a fairly active member and advanced through their member ranks which were awarded on a yearly basis. In 2023 he began producing occasional videos for DR again, in a more modern style with commentary and TeamSpeak audio, and some in the YouTube Shorts format.[52] DR began hosting regular mace trips in 2023, which Vio found the most enjoyable.[53]

In August of 2024 after a considerable amount of time away from WG, Vio nonetheless resumed working on WG's wiki, with the intention of having it filled to a reasonable standard of completion by 2025. However his access to WG's resources was limited as an ex-member. In early 2025 DR went through a downturn with members going inactive, event numbers dropping, and trips being hunted by RoT. Vio made the decision to rejoin WG on 6 April 2025, but intended to remain with DR until 18 May which would have been the 5-year anniversary of him joining. However, he was removed from Deathrow on 11 April 2025 for unspecified reasons.
